Does anyone know where the factory heated grip kit plugs into? I assume there must be some type of hookup for them that is probably fused and relayed. Hopefully aftermarket grips can be plug into the system there also versus starting from scratch with relays etc.

I will try to take a look at this from the manual later today. Most situations, the manufacturer give you a connection point on the main harness, then incorporates the fuse and or relay into the kit. THis makes it a plug and play set-up. There are some aftermarket companies such as Eastern Beaver who makes and finds the OEM factory connectors we can use when going with an aftermarket heated grip or something.

I tired to find it in the manual under the electrical diagrams, but I am not very good at reading wiring diagrams so thus the question.
Thanks and let me know if you find it in the diagram somewhere.

I think I found it on the wiring diagram. It looks to me like it might be plug #86. It appears that one could just plug the after market grips power and ground lead into that plug, but I'm no electrical guy by any means. What say you electrical guru's?

Probably a molex connector requiring one that would fit the existing one. My Wing is loaded with them and it would seem as no two are the same. When I get my S10 I will probably purchase a Blue Seas terminal/fuse block to go someplace on the bike so that I can wire gadgets directly.

I had a Blue Seas unit on my V-Strom but have since discovered the FZ1 unit. I bought one for my SuperT.

You might want to check them out.....

Thanks I forgot all about those guys. Just ordered one to take the place of my Blue Seas unit.

Just a heads up for those that also are on the AdvRdr list, http://www.cyclenutz.com/ is a dealer of the blocks and offers a discount code under the AdvRdr vendors section.

Maybe this site should try to get a hold of him and see what he may offer this list on discounts for the large product line he handles.

the FZ1 was the second item I have bought for the new bike. Received it yesterday and it will be prefect. On past bikes I have had the Blue Sea unit that was hot all the time. This one will be hot or switched for each terminal as I see fit.

Mine arrived about a week ago (ordered when they were offering free shipping). I will first use it when wiring up my Symtec grip heaters. Next (if needed) will be some added driving lights. Will also have a switched Powerlet plug. Nice unit!!!

There are two accessory connectors tucked neatly behind the wiring harness just to the front of the fuse box area. One of these connectors is for the OEM heated grips and the other I assume is for the OEM fog/spot lamps. With OEM heated grips the job is simple plug and play. Installed OEM grips myself last week and was relatively straightforward.

Rmac, are those two accessory connectors switched or un-switched? I am trying to decide if I need to order the FZ1 fuzeblock. I may just use one of these connectors for my heated grips.

I was checking out those two connectors when looking to wire up my Garmin loom.
From memory the 3 pin connecter has a permantly live pin and the 4 pin connecter is switched on with the ignition.

Speedy ... they power up with the ignition and run via relays. They are true plug and play for the driving lights and heated grips.

Thanks Swagger. Great to know that I have at least two switched hookups for accessories.

Hmmm, maybe I did not need to invest in a FZ1! Do you know what amperage they are rated/fused at?

Looks like 20 amps according to the owners manual assuming that the option fuse powers the connectors.

If that's the case, I may not need the FZ1 then. I can use one connector for my Symtec heated grips and the other for the 2nd Powerlet (for electrics someday). My 1st Powerlet will wire direct to the battery(via a fuse) for my GPS/Battery Tender.
