I can't see how that could be the case. Any cooling isn't happening from the lens side. Besides, none of the plexiglass headlight guards are close to the lens. Plenty of air circulation going on. If anything, the film would reduce heat transfer. (I don't think either is a contributing factor to shorter bulb life.)I often wonder if the plexiglass stops any cooling effect and shortens bulb life as that can be a problem with heat buildup, think i'll go with the film .
The primary reason for short bulb life is over driven aftermarket bulbs. The stockers usually last quite a while.
