Headlight Harness Shortage?

I booked my bike in a month ago to have the warranty headlight harness repair on Monday. Last Friday the dealer (Fowlers in Bristol) called to cancel the appointment as they had not had a harness through and said Yamaha UK had no stock.

Well, having posted that, less than an hour later they have phoned up to say the part has now come in and they have booked me in again for the work to be done.

I have been waiting for this part for 5 weeks from Space port cycles in Titusville, FL.
I've called 3x and they claim back-order. yesterday they told me it would be in this thursday.
I've not had good experience with this dealer in the past.
Does anyone know if you can get the part for free and put it in yourself or must the dealer install?

if you call yamaha they will tell you it must be installed by the dealer. so what you do is what you do.
i run ddm hids and no issues, no arcing, no baking. i threw new harness into my tool box.
