Going to be in the Smokey Mountain area during the days of 5/27 through 5/30. Planning to ride Citico Creek area, Tellico Plains to Murphy NC, and hopefully some BRP, and any other interesting roads we can find. Anyone here in the asylum going to be in that area during those days? We go during the week to avoid weekend traffic and miss the holiday crowd too. Come on lets go ride!

Just got back from a weekend ride down there, although I was on a rented **###@@@ top-heavy Tiger Explorer. Third year that I have done this and the Smokies never disappoint.

Wish I could be there. Get pictures of yourself on the Dragon. About 4 companies will take over a hundred shots of you and your Tenere. They are pretty good.

MUSTS: Find Hwy 32 (Northeast corner of the park) from Cosby to the TN-NC border where it turns into gravel. This is an amazing, not well known, twisty asphalt stretch. Keep going for tons of twisty dirt roads. Take a right at FS288 and try and find Buzzards Roost (6.5 miles from the turn). A maze of FS to explore around there..

Also, a good couple of start rides (near Townsend TN are: 1) Parsons Branch Rd. to the Tail of the "Dragon" (off of Cades Cove) and the 2) Rich Mountain loop.

Thanks for the tips Sam. I will definitely look for those routes. Starting to plot some gps route already to be prepared and those sound great. Can't wait to get going.

Walker, this is the view from Buzzards Roost, looking down onto I-40. Wild. Do not be drinking any George Dickels when you go near the edge (my favorite bourbon is from YOUR state, not Kentucky).
Again, you are looking for a tree with a painted red cross on it, 6.5 miles from the turn.
