Died while pulling in the clutch at a light or High Idle issues at start or after your idle died and tried to re start only please be short and sweet.
If you had a code pop up or engine indicator (engine indicator happened to me the first time using WOT) come on that will be good as well, How many times it has happened.

Big Boss, if you want to redesign this thread into a poll as I don't know how to do that or pull it it's your privilege of judgement to do so.

This appears to be a new issue over the past year and it's not fun when it happens, it could be a danger in certain circumstances.

Thanks for your cooperation All! ::026::

Before I did my TB Sync, sometimes the bike would die downshifting before letting the clutch out. Clutch in, downshift, stall. Very dangerous.

Re: Head count: Dead or High Idle issues only Who has bin bit?

Yep, had it. But also believe that I fixed it as posted in one of the other threads. Long story short it got progressively worse and more intense until it was happening nearly every ride. I rooted around and found a wire that was very hot. Clearly not normal, I found where the wire entered a connector that ultimately connected the negative battery terminal to the ground. Said connector when pulled apart released a substantial amount of sand/dust. Since cleaning it and shooting it with some high end electronics spray cleaner/anticorrosive/protectant it hasn't exhibited symptoms once.

Ramseybella you already know that I have had the dead and high idle problems. I just thought I would add my bike to the list. Incidentally I have logged 2,923 miles since I posted my fix. No problems whatsoever. Good starts, no dying problems, no high idle, even and steady idle, and it is running nicely.

Glad the could be fixes are being included along with the head count. ::026::
So far we are at 4 want to see if this is extremely isolated or a bit more.

New '15 with under 300 miles, pulled out of the garage and within 1/4 mile I pulled in the clutch and the RPM dropped too low and engine cut off.

Second time was 8 miles into a ride when I took the exit ramp on the freeway, pulled in the clutch and RPM again dropped too low and engine cut off.

Both times the bike started right up without any problems, hope this doesn't keep happening to me.

My '15 ES's engine quit on me a couple of times during break in i.e. <1000 miles on the clock, when I was in slow traffic or preparing for a slow turn between gears in town. Always started right back up and did not have a high idle afterward. Now at ~10,500, it hasn't happened again.

That's it, I'm telling my wife; a long road trip is what I need this weekend to break in the engine, see ya Monday.

Re: Head count: Dead or High Idle issues only Who has been bit?

2015 ES

I had several stalls while coming to an "almost" stop, downshift, grab a little throttle and dead. Seems like if I'd roll up gradually to a stop with the bike idled down first it wouldn't ever stall.
I added a Ride On bash plate and in order to not lose ground clearance, I also installed an Arrow header. Before riding it I did a throttle body sync and the bike has not died as stated above since.
This stalling was also within the first 1000 miles.

But......the thing has had an erratic idle, up and back down ~ 100 R's since new and still does. Sounds like it's breathing hard when first started.

I also have noticed that if I don't let it warm up a few minutes I have gotten a high idle in this scenario --- Start the bike, leisurely put on helmet and gloves, ride in 1st gear from the back of my shop to the end of my driveway (~ 200 feet), pull in clutch and it does not idle down without blipping the throttle or upshifting.
Best of my knowledge I've not had that happen when I've let the bike warm up for a longer period. Never timed it but guessing close to 4-5 minutes.

I'm going to start paying attention to it more and see if I can confirm the high idle only happens without a certain amount of warm up.

2014 ES, 6,000 miles, never had a problem with stalling or high idle. Bike runs like a champ

So what does this have to do with the topic?
I am glad for you that you haven't had this issue, this is for owners who have... ::024::

365 views and 10 have had it. I haven't. I conclude a select few have problems. At 23,000 miles I haven't even bothered to sync the throttle bodies yet.
Yes that is what it is at this time.
And I am glad it's low as I do think this bike is brilliant and should continue to be.
But this little issue is not over I am guessing, certainly not going to be big numbers.
With that, I hope you never have it happen to you.
It's not a happy moment, you think it was a fluke and then it happens again. ???
Then you think this could happen at a busy intersection or up in the Mountain pass, yes it's a small majority but I just want to keep this going as to find out the problem and someone with a solution, so far it's pointing to electrical gremlins.
Again it's not about the lucky ones it's about "Dead or High Idle issues only Who has been bit". ::002::
At 23,000 miles your soon due for first valve service as well.
Happy Trails my friend. ::003::

Several stalls while coming to a stop in the first 2000 miles, none lately. Idle hangs a bit now and then...otherwise it's all goodness

How many miles on your Steed?
I am close to 40k and it started recently for me, my idle is a bit low sometimes as well.

Never stalled, but I performed the air screw and CO adjustment within the first 500 miles. Recently checked the TBS and it was still great at almost 17K miles. Bike does hunt a bit at idle, been doing that since new.

Have been bit once with high idle ~2500 rpm. Hot engine, fan running, just finished the dirt run (!) up to Salmon Glacier. Curiously, could not change between T & S when it happened...something was hung up. Shut it off with key, started back up normally.

Mine has always "hunted a bit at idle" also and maybe I just didn't notice it until it acted up. My idle does vary from just over 1K to a full needle's width (1150rpms?). I want to believe it is a separate issue and one that I have no desire to go tracking down right now. Since my post about the "cure" the bike has not returned to either the 800rpms/stalling condition or the 3K+ running without throttle. And the bike has been run in all sorts of unpleasant weather that would have typically reliably produced the problems (cold and humid/wet).

Re: Head count: Dead or High Idle issues only Who has been bit?

Information from a Singapore S10 closed group in Facebook, the abnormal idling is caused by ignition systems, and mostly is the corroded coils and some are just corroded plugs. The root causes is water or moisture getting into the plug wells, so the seals must have leaked. YMMV.

Re: Head count: Dead or High Idle issues only Who has been bit?

2012 with ~25K miles. About 5% of the time it'd die when pulling up to a light after about 10 minutes running. Key cycle would clear the problem. One time last
summer had the idle hang at about 3800RPM and would die when I pulled in the clutch. Again, key cycle cleared the problem. Took it to the dealer and left it for 3
weeks. No problem was found, TB's synced, ECU flashed. Rode it twice without issues after it was "fixed" before being smitten by a '15 and trading up. Noticed
it would idle higher after flash.
