I was an early adopter of the HB Xplorer Topbox back in 2009 bought to go on my then XT660Z tenere. I now find that after about 10Kmiles of mixed commute and reasonable distance work the bottom plastic base has cracked on every corner and on the sides where it is riveted to the alloy panels . Not a particularly long lasting box it would appear. I asked if there was any recourse to repair replacement from motobins the UK supplier and was informed no as its only 1 year warranty...

I'd recommend people stay away from this shoddy product. ::007::

Some time back I posted about similar problems with the H&B Explorer Topbox. I contacted both H&B and the supplier and received a replacement topbox from H&B and was allowed to keep the damaged Topbox. (which I am still using andSaved on carriage) . They (H&B) accepted photographic evidence of the damage. Might be worth contacting them. My Topbox was over 14 months old . See
yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=5255.msg92941#msg92941.

P.S. As i live in Éire, I first contacted Moto Bins they being my nearest H&B distributer but when they discovered that I had not purchased the topbox from them, they just did not want to know anything about it. Contact H&B direct. Remember, if you do'nt ask you will not get.
Best of luck.

Ta for your info, mine hasn't cracked there that I've spotted so far, I think I'm posting to vent my spleen imo and to warn others. I'm not sure I'd actually want replacement like for like as I don't believe I mis-operated my topbox (probably the opposite) and the same issue could re-occur if subjected to a long tour, ps my cracks seem to have appeared after a 600mile+ ride over 2 days .
I'm now searching the couches for pennies to put together to likely fund a touratech zega pro topbox which I wish I'd waited for in the 1st place as it wasn't available at the time I got the HB. To add insult to injury my laptop is now also on its last legs (held together with ducktape/solder and gravity) so I've had to spank the funds for a replacement for that too :'( never rains it just pours.

I have a Trax box that got bent in a drop...I tried ( like an idiot) to bang the dent out from the inside...all this accomplished was the rivets started to pull through the aluminum. I fixed it very easily with 3M 2500 Marine adhesive. This stuff is strong, water tight and permanent. Comes in white or black...the draw back is its not that cheap and it takes 7 days ( no thats not a type) to cure. What I did was after getting the adhesive into the gap I wedged a block of wood inside the box at the seam then used a large clamp on the outside. A week later all fixed and that seam is probably stronger ( and more water tight) than new.

Not sure if this stuff will work for you but it may...

Well my Touratech ZegaPro topbox and rack came today, just fitted and its looking a lot sexier than the HB ever did (if a topbox can look sexy) the case is significantly lighter than the HB and the rack is probably similar though being stainless wont rust like the steel plate of the HB rack (ex XT660Z rack).
