Looks like they are advertised as different but does anybody know why I could not move them from my 2012 to a possible 2014? I didn't think the frame or anything was different.
The difference between the two is if the 2014 is an ES model. As I recall, some of the hardware for the ES is now mounted where it interfered with the mounting of some pannier racks from the Gen 1 model.

Correct... I bought a set of Gen1 H&B frames for my 2014 ES ..... I had to do a fair bit of modifying them to make them fit .....

There is a difference for the ES model. There's some tricky stuff going on behind the right passenger peg and the mounting of a suspension piece that is also back there. I had to get Caribou to send me some extra pictures of how to mount it. At first, I thought it was going to be impossible. It's not. I don't recall any tricky voodoo going on when I mounted the '12 HB rack.

This was putting 2012 racks on a 14?

I know the windscreens are different but are there any other physical differences? I have Yellow body work on my 12 and might want to switch that over too.

Thanks, so the year doesn't matter. Just ES vs. Non-ES
No, that is not correct!

The year does matter, and the side carriers are split into two categories: part number 650.4531 00 01 would fit models up until 2013, while part number 650.4540 00 01 would fit the 2014+ models, which does include both the standard and ES models.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding fitment and I'd be happy to help!
