Jeff,

I think that will look great on a hat. Would t-shirts be silk screened instead of embroidered?

Well, I already have that exact tank pad, waiting for my S10 to get here in May and would like to have some kind of hat or shirt. However, I am wondering about how this particular logo would go over with some people that don't know anything about motorcycles and for sure have never heard of a Super Tenere. With it on my bike, I think it will be ok, but think about wearing it in some parts of the USA with today's political climate. Some might think you are some sort of Muslim terrorist sympathizer. ???

Hey, there's a lot of strange shite going on nowadays, I'm just sayin'.....................

i am open for ideas. I also wanted to know what you all thought about us breaking some sort of corporate logo ethics code or something? Can we get into trouble like the old Honda SPort Touring Association did and had to remove Honda from its name? Can i put Yamama, or XT1200z onto an unlicensed product without getting my arse into trouble?

That is something to keep in mind. I could be up for them though.

Good point about using intellectual property or logos. I don't know for sure who to check with. I can ask my dealer to check with Yamaha USA to see what their thoughts are on it.

BTW, as former Honda Sport Touring Association Prez and one who was involved in negotiations with American Honda over the licensing of their name, I can tell you that was not the reason the HSTA changed its name to MSTA (Motorcycle Sport Touring Association). The membership voted to change it and it seemed the reason expressed by proponents of such a change was that it better reflected the fact that it was an all brands organization and by changing the name, it would help the organization grow.

On this same subject, my dealer also sells Honda and he was also involved in negotiations with the same people at American Honda over the same subject. He was unable to obtain the Goldwing items, shirts, hats, etc that he wanted to buy from them, so he had some made and sold them. He had the same results of these negotiations as we had in the HSTA, which was a dead end.

Yeah the whole IP thing is a real slippery slope. Maybe we need to look at what the STOC did which was to use an image of the bike in conjunction with a forum logo. I don't think that an image can be copy write protected but that may not be the case.

I have some of them decals of the tenere woman and have to keep telling my wife that it's an Arabian woman not a Muslim.

Can someone find me a good resolution picture of the Tenere Mountains, like the outline is on the decal of the bike? I think that would be a good representation of this, then paired with a few of the words I mentioned. I mean, we aren't selling these things for profit anyway.

Can anyone explain the origin of that graphic (Dakar Man) or the stripe that looks like a "ladder" on the fairing of the First Edition?

Yamaha has used it for some of the Tenere models over the years. It is one of the regional maybe nomadic people in the Tenere Desert Regions in Africa. Yamaha has used the ladder blocking on many of their Vintage bikes, and some newer ones. The blocking was on some of the other XT Yamaha models over the various years. For me, this is the resemblence I want to add, so Yamaha enthusiasts will see the blocks and know it is a Yamaha. I just like the look of it, as something classy retro Yamaha on a modern AWESOME bike as the Tenere!!

Also, I liked the blue man version, just not the lettering below it. I have added eyes to it, what do people think? I would like to maybe put the Tenere Dude on the back of hat, so its not so obvious. I could encorporate the yamaha bars/ladders somehow with the XT1200Z Super Tenere on there as well. For hats, each stitch is more money in the end result.

No ladder graphic or dakar man for me. Just a few minor modifications will be fine. ;D

Ollie, for simplicity sake I have to make most all of the hats alike. I could make one or two exceptions to the rule. I just have to watch my P's and q's.
