Just an FYI for the Super Ténéré community...

Grok is back online and his amazing "Harmonizer" synch tool is again available as of today, November 1st, 2012.

Check it out here - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701625&page=49 - and scroll down to post # 732.

If you have never used one of these incredible tools you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I've used carb stix, vacuum gauges, the "Twin Max", and several other intake synching devices in my over 40 years of ridin' and wrenchin' and IMHO nothing else comes even remotely close to the "Harmonizer". It's so good I actually bought a *SECOND* one used when I wasn't sure Grok would ever be making them again, just so I'd have a spare.

Just thought you guys would want to know.

Mark is a very good guy. He came to my home so he could balanced the Super Tenere TB's. When we finished he was surprised I asked if he would like to take a ride. Did not take long for him to accept the offer.

Maybe I'm dense, so please edumacate me if I'm missing something. And I do think this tool would be great for a bike with more cylinders.

The subject is the Tenere, a twin, and not tools for other bikes.
What capability does this give for balancing a twin that is beyond a simple loop of tubing with coolant in it?

I've used all sorts of tubing/liquid manometers over the years, and IMHO the advantages for the "Harmonizer" are numerous. Things like:

- Speed. And not just during the synchronization itself, but also in setting up and putting away.
- Accuracy. For more detailed info read the "Harmonizer" thread on ADVrider, but suffice to say it delivers more accurate, repeatable results - than a tube type manometer.
- No mess. Completely self-contained, fits in a small box. No liquid to spill, contain, or clean-up.
- Easier to see and operate. No bouncing, etc. Lighting and/or angle isn't an issue, etc.
- Can even use it while riding to check throttle-body operation throughout the rev range and under load. Try that with a tube-type manometer. ::025::

There's more, but suffice to say, IMHO, if you ever try this tool you'll never go back to a tubing/liquid type device. You'll also quit using any vacuum gauge sets, Twin-Max's, Carbtune's, etc. on your twin-cylinder bikes.

Just my two centavos... OMMV.

I had two "old school" units Ive used for years and years. After using a customers harmonizer, I bought my own and threw the old school ones away.. This is the best tool for this job IMOP..

during my recent BBQ and tech day, we synch'd with a Harmonizer, then put on the oil tub home made device. After truing with Harmonizer, the oil tubes were off by 4 inches. We then reset the TB's to the oil instead.
Do you all think there was a bad Harmonizer we were working with? I have never used one, it was one of the forum members who brought his. I am interested to know everyone's thoughts!!

Don't know about the harmonizer quesiton, but the vinyl tubing hanging from my garage door rail doesn't get much simpler - or more accurate. Pop on the barbs, start it up, and equalize the fluid lines.

Or as the little Thai girl said "Work fine, last long time."

most everyone around that day thought by going with the accuracy of the oil filled tubes, that simple physics was a better bet. i think there may of been something going on with the Harmonizer, although i have heard good things about them.
