HAHA! Consumer Reports...
I would Hope to see the Pan America do better in reliability (as per polled owners) than the current crop of Harleys, otherwise it'll probably be a no-go for me. Doesn't look to me like it's no longer an issue for Harley's current bikes.
Who Makes the Most Reliable Motorcycle? - Consumer Reports
What began as a battle of the motorcycle brands, with a decisive ranking to show who makes the most reliable motorcycle, has resulted in a nationalist showdown.www.consumerreports.org
The data was published 6 years ago on 4 year old bikes. That is certainly NOT the current crop of Harleys. That’s six years old that data.
"I" don't talk shit about anybody, or anything, unless I know it to be fact. . . . or experienced it myself. Ft. Worth PD, a H-D customer or years, didn't know what they were going to ride. . . . but, they knew it wasn't going to be H-D. Too much down time, and repair costs. Long story short, Honda canned the ST, and Kawi never got behind the 1400 Connie. . . . so BMW it was. They love them. . . . because they get traded every three years.Reliability hasn't been an issue for years. some of you guys talk out you arse. . . .
'Nuff said.. . . . I’m in a Harley owners group and I don’t hear anyone complaining about engine issues or drivability issues. . . . .
Your inaccurate statement is actually counter to the point you are trying to make. CHP is (or at least was) a national leader in patrol vehicle testing and research that many other agencies refer to on such matters. Sure, a general fleet vehicle might go low bid but an emergency services vehicle would go sole source exemption on some sort of performance review.Yeah what ever! CHP rides Hd ... What they ride as with most states and municipalities is all about the contract price low bidder!
I knew Bobs BMW near me sold the bikes and your post made me curious to look up the contract.Your inaccurate statement is actually counter to the point you are trying to make. Unrelated, DC Metro PD has gone from HD to BMW. It's a sizable fleet.
Sorry you have had a bad experience with your S10.
You had better read up on the oil migration problem on the 18 and up models that are eating their transmissions by the trucks full. They are having an issue with the trans fluid being sucked through the clutch push rod bore and into the primary side. I serviced one last week that had 8 ozs of trans fluid left in it and 54 ozs in the primary side. Each side holds 32 oz.Reliability hasn't been an issue for years. some of you guys talk out you arse. I will trade my S10 for one sooner rather than later. first one lasted four hours after hitting the ground at my dealer.
1) I hate Beemers.. . . . I’m surprised all you fan boys don’t own BMWs
I see some irony in the two sentences I highlighted. No mention of better reliability which I was speaking to. DC Metro and safety Laughable. Just more opinion. And feelings. Looks like somebody wanted to line Bob’s pockets. No one else in the country could provide the motorcycles debatable good old boy network just like DC.
Got me looking around. UK police use BMW and Yamaha FJs, with the FJs being more favoured currently, I believe(?)I knew Bobs BMW near me sold the bikes and your post made me curious to look up the contract.
Sole source - DC is not going to buy any more Harleys, period. They found the BMWs to be both safer and have better features, regardless of what the Harley faithful think.
