Does anyone have a photo of the Happy Trail side cases with the cliff cut set up on the ST? Also, anyone have comments, good or bad, on the install process? Thank you.

toompine, I am interested in seeing those boxes. Let me know and I will help you install them. I really like the six piece interior storage system and the top bags without the brackets.

No delivery from Happy Trails. No communication from them. Three unanswered emails. A promise to get back to me by the 3rd passes. Not happy with these people ::009::

I had Happy Trails boxes on my 2009 KLR.

They felt very flimsy and not quality built. You could bend the box easily with just your hands.

I have Jesse's installed...in fact my Jesse's were the silver photo shoot Odyssey 10"ers

No bending these suckahs.

YMMV

Oh Yea, got my shipping confirmation from UPS. Looked like there was going to be yet another problem (they were missing bolts) but Heather at HT got it worked out for me and they are on the way. Do I look happy :)

Any comment from HT on why the long delay - manufacturing changes, etc..? Looking forward to bike photo after install! ::017::

Well the combined delays quoted: panniers done, but racks not fabricated, delay on receiving the locks, holidays and fabrication line shut down, special bolts not in stock. I know one poster ordered the first week of November and just got his confirmation today also. I ordered December 3rd.

I would guess that they got overwhelmed with orders around the holidays. They were running specials (still are) and that might have got them more business than they anticipated. I will tell you they were sympathetic and friendly about this even if I at times was getting a little short

I can understand getting a bit behind. In this economy having a backlog is a great thing but you need to be honest (or realistic) about your ability to make the deadlines you comitt to.

That said Heather at HT was nice to me through every email and knowing that they are shipping today goes a long way to making me ::012::.

I will post up the mounted pictures and a report on the install proceedure and then a ride report a week later after I finish a four day shakedown ride to Death Valley.

I'm thinking of buying the cliff cut boxes from HT. The price is so much better than metal mule or the tourtech boxes (forget the name). I want metal boxes so Givi is out. There's no place to go look at them and HT website really sucks at sharing pics and even details on their specs. They are good looking boxes. Did you order the 7" or 9"? I look forward to seeing the pics you post of your S10 w/ them mounted.

Ordered the 9" Cliff cut which are a 9" top and a 7" box. I don't want wide or big boxes but I like the cliff cuts because they added a little space at the top.

Got my racks yesterday and the boxes are due today. A two box shipment that got seperated in Sparks NV on the way out.

Cross posting over on the Happy Trails thread

Man talk about drama. 4:00 comes and no panniers. Call UPS and they say, don't know, doesn't show up on the screen as out for delivery ??? ??? ??? ??? Understand this main shipping hub is like 5 miles from my office, I could go over there to pick it up if necessary and they say....... have your shipper call and put a trace on it. I say, it is in your warehouse, the tacking says so. Go out and look. The smart a## young lady says "do you know how big this place is?" I answer politely, "yes I do" but you have it, go find it" The conversation did not end well. So I call Happy Trails to ask them to put a trace on it and they say, you know the driver wil probably walk in with it at any moment and I am thinking it is 4:30 on a Friday and that is not going to happen and while they are transfering me to a person that can start the tracking request.....The UPS guy walks in all full of smiles ;D. I didn't know whether to be mad at him for being a day late or overjoyed to get my panniers. So at 4:33 on a Friday I got it all in my hands and now this Saturday morning I am headed out to the garage to start putting it together.

By the way the panniers look way cool. Got the raw aluminum and love the look. The size, which for me has been a big part of the debate also look perfect. I loved the Jessies but while expensive I could justify it, but they were just too big. Studied dimensions of all the boxes and picked these because I thought it would be best for me. I have had many second thoughts since ordering but seeing them in person convinced me they are the right ones. I am a light packer and did not want to get caught up in having too much space and feelinga need to fill it.

Wil post pictures later this weekend

What you have and a D38 should provide sufficient storage with a low profile. I am interested in seeing the HT side cases.
