I got my bike back from the great guys at Happy Trail today, now wearing a new set of panniers and a big new luggage rack.

The racks are symmetrical with 9 in. Cliff cut Tetons they come out 37in wide. On the right inside the rack they made a nice adjustable
Shelf to hold a tool roll, I think a 1gal rotoPax would slide right in there.

The luggage rack sits at seat level with a rectangular storage space underneath it. Panniers and rack are both really nice kit

::006:: Hurry up with those pics :D. Been waiting on these. Had some on one of my KLR's and they were tough no frills hard bags. Going to Africa in '13 and the tour leader has been counseling on replacing my GL soft bags with hard bags. HT stuff normally has a very competitive price point. Durability and price is what I'm looking for. Glad to see they are done with the design and fabrication stage. Now let's get them pix uploaded.

The panniers are off the shelf items, I think the prices are on the website, it varies a little depending on options.

The racks are not any more complex than others they build so I would think pricing would be similar. Jason told me that he was going to put up some pics on adventure rider first of the week, so I'm guessing that availability very soon if not now.

Thanks, I'm figuring it s/b right in the $700-$800 range.

Nice photos. What rear rack is that?
It's one happy trail designed for the S10, it starts out with a round bar support covered with a U shaped piece that has the bottom of the U is the same level as the OEM rack under the seat. This creates a trough that a duffle bag will set in.

Putting the top on closes in the top of the U leaving a nice flat rack level with the back seat that will accept luggage or a top box.

So if I understand you correctly, in the solo position with no rear pillion the HT will lone up perfectly with the plastic rack under the pillion seat. Pics?

I haven't had mine apart yet to see if the alignment is perfect but it looks very close, certainly close enough to set a duffle bag on.

That setup appeals to my sense of simple, clean and understated. Especiallulike he idea of a rotpax on the inside of the pannier mount

I just sold my KLR today and I get to pick up my new Tenere this Thursday. I kept the HT paniers and trunk off the KLR, and yes they are plane jane but they are damned near indestructable and served me well on my first Adventure ride, from Colorado all the way to Prudhoe Bay and back VIA D2D (on the way up). This adventure riding is all new to me but I have jumped in with both feet. The education I am getting from reading all the new threads out there has served me well.

To my question now: I called Happy Trails the day after I ordered the Tenere about racks that will work for my exsisting HT luggage and was told by Jennifer that they havn't even started on these. I am thinking about pulling out the old skills and trying to make them myself, but the frustration I am about to take on would be beter served with a check and a UPS delivery. Does any body out there have the "INSIDE TRACK" on a projected ready to deliver date and should I get in line now?

Yes I will really miss my KLR, it was a great platform to jump off of into this great new hobbie of mine.

Welcome Tenspeed, I have been in contact with Kurt @ HT and he will email me as soon they set prices and dates. I will post up here as soon as I hear.

Welcome aboard and glad to have another member from Colorado!! I used to live in the Pikes Peak region and enjoyed a lot of riding in the Florence area.
What color did you get and which dealer did you get it from. When I last talked to Apex in C Springs, they had not sold any, which seemed strange.

Welcome on, Tenspeeds. I also am a member of the KLR alumni organization. You will notice a most significant difference between it and the Tenere. In a very good way. Enjoy. Watch out for Colorider on your travels .... hope you got a blue bike or he'll get all cranky about it. ::025:: ::025:: ::021:: R

Thanks for the nods on the Tenere I can't wait to hit the throttle. I did opt for the Raven colorless model I got tired of the flashy bright green of the 08 KLR, Plus I the Name "IMPACT BLUE" didn't sit to well with me. There is a big empty spot in the man cave where the KLR used to sit, but in two days that spot is going to look BAD ASS with the new big talk of the Duel Sport bike world

I am really impressed with how little bad press the Super Ten has received since hitting the road. I only heard about the "NEW 1200 DUEL SPORT BY YAMAHA" last June in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Mostly the NAY Sayers are dyed in the wool long time fans of their current rides. Keep an open mind and lets see what pans out in the next year. I think its going to be an EPIC addition to the ADV world, but that is a very biased opinion from a very anxious and soon to be S10 owner, 42 hours to be exact TIC TIC TIC.

::002:: Yea I know that's terrible. I kept myself out of the loop for over two decades. I bought the my first bike in over 24 years only last September to go on a ride to Prudhoe Bay with a friend, I didn't know if I would like it after all those years. The sad thing about our younger years is we, or I couldn't afford to do all the things I wanted to do. So now my mid life crises has only two tires. and no T%$#. Plus I would of killed myself if I keep riding like I did when I was a kid a real mad man or maniac . Hooked again.

Hooked again and loving it.
