Living and working in Bangkok is far removed from the true beauty of Thailand IMO.
If you didn't want to go to the bar you shouldn't have. No surprise you didn't enjoy yourself.
Sukhumvit Soi 3 is not "Nana". That is Soi Arab.

I agree I shouldn't have.
I have generally been of the opinion that the majority of girls (99%) are there because of poverty and wanting to help their families. This is borne out in conversations.
I always wondered if I was in the same circumstances - a young handsome guy, but hailing from a poor family - and some fat, sweaty, drunk, grabby, floppy-titted ugly woman bar fined me, how I would feel. Well, in fact I know how I would feel, but I like to put myself in their shoes. So, on the occasions I have been to girlie bars, I have sat with these girls and told them how to get a "nice" foreigner (if they want one) and the advice has been well received - well received, except by the mamasan and owners, who can get extremely nasty.
Yes, I forgot. I used to go to a very good reggae club in Soi Arab. Soi 7 had the tasty Dosa King... I lived in Banglumpoo, off Thanon Samsen, as it was relatively quiet, but had the incomparable Adhere Blues Bar, unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed backpackers, etc...
