Has anyone fitted different handlebars ? Having read all the threads on here on the subject of neck/shoulder pain, which I get, it seems the bars are often the cause due to the large sweepback. I'm trying to find a suitable replacement here in the UK without much success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers

The cheap and easy to try option is a set of spacers. I fitted a set of 30mm spacers to my S10 and has transformed the riding position as I'm no longer 'hunched' over the bars. You can also get Rox risers which can move the bars back or adjustable versions to move the bars all over the place ! Worth a try first as they are easy to fit and if you don't like 'em just bung them on ebay. Note - much more than 30mm and you will be getting very tight on cable & hose length. Best of luck ::008::

Hi 2112, did you need to get longer lines or did the stock ones manage? I was thinking of Rox 30mm. Secondly, how's the knee doing?

Clamp them on a vice and slip a larger pipe over the ends and bend them forward.
Another member suggested this after I already ordered a new bar.
I still may try this as i like wider bars.
Never the less the new bars did stop the throbbing and numbness I was getting in my wrist.
I do also have bar risers that brings me in a more sit up position makes for a longer riding day. ::008::

The 30mm spacers fitted fine, no other mods required and at around £26 on ebay a good value pound per improvement mod'. I could tell that this was just about the limit with stock cables & hoses, you may (if you can find any) get away with 35mm spacers ? My knee is still throbbing and I'm keeping it strapped up and elevated as much as possible, I'm confident I'll be OK for June though. I've just heard one of my work colleagues dropped his GS at the weekend and has wrenched his back picking it up. He's due to leave for a three week tour on Friday and is still in agony, not good. He missed his trip last year too due to a prolapsed disc which has just healed earlier this year, not good. I'll pM you nerer the date so we can arrange a rendezvous point for a spin up the Splugen (or just a coffee). Have you made those new hips your's yet Ford ?

Not yet, they feel like a rental still !!! Stressed about about putting them through a heavy leg workout, 'just in case' ::010:: other than that all good, now just need to get the knees fixed and I'll be good for another 15 years... ::025::

Thanks for the replies ::008:: I tried the 30mm risers and for me it didnt help. I also tried the bars fowards and backwards in every position known to man ! It seems the sweep back is a common cause of discomfort, so I'm going to try some different bars and see how that goes !

Had the same shoulder and neck ache problem myself, when I first got the bike. I now have a pair of 22mm Rox Anti Vibe risers and some Renthal superbike flat bars on mine, which has improved the comfort no end. No need to change any of the lines or cables either, as this set up is only slightly higher that the stock bars.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered some Pro Taper Contour bars the other day, and already have some standard risers I can try if I want some extra height. So I will see how it all feels when I get them
