Forgot to mention the flex issue with tall bars and the Gen II's rubber dampened riser. The dampening can be tightened up.
Sounds like my issue as well.Forgot to mention the flex issue with tall bars and the Gen II's rubber dampened riser. The dampening can be tightened up.
Just came back in to this thread to say I found a thread exactly on what you describe. It involves two or four large washers. Taking the nuts off the bottom and placing washers up there then the nuts firms things up some. Lifting the risers out of their holes and doing a washer top and bottom will just about lock them down solid. It's been years since I've seen this issue brought up. I've seen a video of what the extra leverage does, it's pretty pronounced.
Thanks mateI tried the Protaper Evo highs, found it too flexy for my taste, went to the regular height Evo with the Helibars barbacks. Suits me better.
I'm tall with proportionately wider shoulders, so the sweep of the stock were too acute. This solution has worked out for me really well.
Hope you find a good solution for your needs.
If you root around in the forums you’ll find an excellent spreadsheet on many different makes and bends. Try the forum search option.I'm having a problem with getting sore hands and wrists after a couple of hours riding the bike
I've read a few older threads here about about the sweep of the stock bars being the main cause and new bars or bending out the original bars even being an option
Has anyone replaced their bars recently and can recommend a set that don't need to much messing around to fit
With straightening/bending the stock bars, what would be the best way to do this and keep them even, I'm very capable mechanically and have plenty of tools and decent vices at my disposal but I just don't want to stuff it up really
The bike already has Rox risers and I've played around with moving the bars in and out but none of it's helping
I think that's in the handlebar sticky at the top of this sub forum. If you root around in the forums you’ll find an excellent spreadsheet on many different makes and bends. Try the forum search option.
hi,Thanks mate
I went with the Protaper Evo Adventure low bars, Fitted them up today but haven't ridden it yet due to really crap weather here at the moment
So far sitting on the center stand they feel heaps better but time will tell, I'll try get out tomorrow weather permitting but I'm sure it has to be an improvement
can i also ask in your opinion, how are these adventure bars once fitted different to standard bars, having similar issue with right wristThanks mate

seen a physio, for a sudden weakness in my right wrist given me exercises but had it now for 4 monthsRob i would have thought if it was the bars you would get problems in both wrists. The bars on my Tiger 800 were too straight, i changed them for bars with more sweep comming towards me. It cured it. If you have any trapped nerves in your right wrist a support will help because you are kind of only using half of the muscles to operate your hand. If you have not got it checked out its worth doing so. Also look at your riding gloves. I generally use the same pair as i have muffs and the heated grips to keep my hands warm. The gloves will tell you something.
Have you had a test for trapped nerves ?. They put needles in and run electric through them. Doesnt hurt but worth having done. I wear a brace when sleeping to hold my hand in position. Sometimes during the day if its sore. It helps.seen a physio, for a sudden weakness in my right wrist given me exercises but had it now for 4 months

I get that pain in the palm aswell. If you relax your arms and hands palms up see what happens with the right one. If it starts to clench compared to the left one you have problems. Could also be start of Arthritus. If you work with your hands like with hammers causing shock to your wrists that does not help matters.no,
i didn,t have a issue with this right wrist at all i went to the yorkshire dales a few months back, the ride home about 5 hrs my right wrist was painfull coming home, i left it thinking it,ll get better took all sorts of pain killers nothing worked, all the rest never helped went to see a pyshsio through the doctors, abot 2 months ago now, gave me 2 different exercises plus a stronger anti inflamotary, and said get back to me if these don,t work. i should have gone back but didn,t my wrist is really weak, if i slowly close my hand to a fist i get a lot of pain across the palm section

Hi Rob, Yes just the adventure bar part number 024026can i ask, i see on the protaper evo bars link there is the asventure bar and adventure high bar only, can,t see the low bar on your thread when you say you got the protaper evo adventure low do you mean the adventure bar, not the high version as no low one is listed
They are much straighter and so far I've had no more wrist problems, still having a bit of pain in my right thumb/forefinger area but that is most likely my glovescan i also ask in your opinion, how are these adventure bars once fitted different to standard bars, having similar issue with right wrist
