I'm sure there are more people than me here that enjoy shooting. Since skeet shooting and sporting clays are about to start, I was trying to find a way to mount a scabbard on the S10. There were a couple interesting places. Kolpin makes the scabbard and I custom fit it to my Kel Tec KSG and Tavor. I thought about a bracket for the scabbard that hangs the gun from the back of the bike in place of the tail trunk on it's side. The downside to that mounting is that anyone and everyone will see it except me. And I have to ride right past the Sheriff's dept on the way to the range. The other position was again with the gun on the side, under the right pannier. I made the mount and hung the scabbard but, it's dangerously close to the ground. I hate driving my truck in the summer. I'd have really liked mounting it in front of the rt saddlebag but, there just doesn't seem to be a good way and have it halfway concealed. Any thoughts? Maybe I'm missing the obvious.

Not sure what kind of shotgun you have, but what about a breakdown size case that you can just strap across the rear seat and panniers? Less conspicuous than a scabbard as well...

It could be broken down further but, it's shorter than the barrel length of most shotguns used for skeet. The scabbard I modified is 31" long now, this allows a 4" long choke/extension to be fit and gives it a total barrel length of 22.5" and total gun length of 30". The Benelli is almost 50" overall and 28" barrel length. The advantage I found with it is it can easily be put on target faster than any shotgun I have ever fired before. And held much steadier to boot. Handheld 100 yard shots with slugs will give a 6", 5 shot grouping. 5 shot rested 50 yard groupings will be 2.5" or under. The second attachment is 12 rounds @ 50 yards, rested. It's pretty easy to see why I want to use it.

Have you ever been stopped and questioned? Police give you the stink eye?

This was posted on the ADV site. I don't really like the angle of it. With the new electronic cruise or a throttle lock you could actually shoot it on the run. There are a number of different setups to mount one to an ATV.

Iguess if you're going to mount a gun, it could always be done with a belt fed machine gun! lol What was I thinking? Maybe the people 2 miles away behind were I'm shooting might be a little upset though. ::012::

I've done this a few times myself, without issue. You do get looks, obviously, but as long as it's unloaded it's legal to carry that way...in Oklahoma anyway. No different than a gun mount in the back glass, it just "looks" worse.

I've also strapped soft cases across the handlebars before, but that's not a friendly option on the Tenere.

Depending on what kind of top box you have, it might be possible to get an adapter plate...like a Givi, for example. Then you could purchase a dedicated hard case, Pelican or other, attach the adapter, and have a nice quick-disconnect gun case.

If you end up doing this, you might want to consider stowing your ammo in a separate case. I'm not sure about Iowa laws, but technically we'd have to do that here.

I have one of these scabbards (Voo Doo), but not sure if a KSG would fit. Send it to me, and I'll check it out for you. ::024::

I had to have a scabbard that will seal the dust out, I have 4 miles of gravel before I get to the pavement.
Yeah, I'll get that right out to you to see if it'll go in. You want to try a Tavor too? ::003::

Yes, oKLRider, the laws here are the same, I'd have to transport all the shells in one of panniers.

I've had no problem strapping my full length case across the back seat. It only sticks out a little beyond each side case. Between the grab rails and the side case hardware there are plenty of places to attach. Put my range bag on top and strap it down with a bungee net. I'm willing to bet most people never notice it.

I think I'll make a quick detach carrier for the Kolpin and put the gun on it's side over the rear rack. This excludes the use of a tail trunk but, I think I can live w/o that while I go to the range. I have a Drago 36" back-pack style soft case but, it rests on the rear seat and touches the back of my helmet. Given the conditions of the roads between here and there, my eyes would be jiggling in their sockets from the gun whacking me in the helmet for a half hour. No bueano.
