1100km from home, on the Cabot Trail, guess what just pop out...

I'll try contacting Ramsay in Sydney, NS and see what they can do for me... Otherwise I'm thinking of filling it with a mix of grease and oil...

Any suggestion / help will be appreciated. If you think you can save my but, feel free to give me a call on my cell (418-487-5330).

What a feel down feeling... :'(

Read this - http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=13009.0 - you have the same issue as this guy... and same as me.

Check out the link I posted in that thread. There are also more threads for this link out there. At one point Eemsremo alludes to the fact that it is an easy fix, but he likely never saw my request for more clarification. Yammy covered mine at the dealer under warranty.

Good luck!!!

Did you know / were able to see if the seal comes out from the wheel side or you need to completely dismantle the pumpkin (FD ass'y)

Yea there are many posts on this. Unless your fluid level is dropping or its bad enough to get on the surface of your tire, you should be fine to finish your trip without worries.

Yes Mine did that about 50,000 miles ago and it does look worse than it is, just check the level once and a while.
It is an easy fix if you have the seal,, once you remove the rear wheel you'll see the leaky seal and it can just be popped out and a new one pushed in.

I rode mine 2000 miles after it started leaking, but it was as bad as your in that pic at the end of 2000 miles. It was just a slight leak at the beginning. Trikepilot linked my post, which got one reply after a lot of views. I hope you get more help.

I'd check the level and ride it, providing it isn't loosing enough to be a road hazard or empty between fuel stops I think you'll be fine. If really you want to try to fill it with something that will stay in, John Deere Cornhead grease probably would. I think the risk of hurting something else in the system might be greater doing that, though, and wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll get some oil / grease tomorrow and give a call to the local dealer just to check if they have one in stock. Anyone have the exact dimensions of this output shaft seals?

I think you'll be surprised how little 80/90 weight gear oil you are actually losing. It really spreads out and makes a mess, but mine was never more than a tiny amount low. Good luck.

Red, Plug, you were right. Check level saturday morning and everything is OK. Leak decrease to 3-4 drop on the rim during our 500km yesterday, seems like I'll finish this ride after all. In Turso this morning, heading to Halifax to see Alexander Keith brewery and some other attraction the back toward NB then Qc tomorrow. Thanls everyone for the inputs, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the remainig of the ride and call a new seal tomorow aty local dealer.
Ride more, check the fluids, worry less !!!
