I was concerned that they were wide at 36.5", so I measured my BMW R1200GS with the BMW Adventure style aluminum cases. They are wider yet at 38.5", so that gives you guys a reference for width versus BMW aluminum bags. I was concerned that I would have to buy a "WIDE LOAD" banner for the back end of the Yamaha, but it looks liked I should have gotten it for the BMW instead.

I am glad we got the 10 we needed... I have really been trying to decide which color or combination I wanted. :-\
I asked my wife(who is a lot better with colors and flow, ect. It looks like all black will be the color. I do like the pics with the all black cases and they do seem to bring the bike together with the black side panels.
Ok, black it is.. ;D Dang that was hard..

Oh, and thanks NoPork for the bar measurements. If the bars make it through the cases should also..

Having ordered the raven, I am too black already. I am probably going to add some white in there somewhere later. So I am going with black with silver vein and black doors. I've had a blue bike for 5 years, and could not go blue either.

Alright! Thanks for your work on this, Clem! Can't wait to get them and attach some bottom protection rails, experiment with packing set ups, etc.

Bottom protection rails? What do you have in mind? Is this surface protection for when they are removed or some other purpose?

Is this bottom protection rail you speak of custom work of yours?

I read somewhere that you can take auto body side molding (the sticky back stuff), and attach a couple of strips of it to the bottom of the case. Its out of sight and protects the bottom of the case from scratches when not on the bike. I thought I'd give it a try.

very creative; I may add a cargo net to mine as I have with my pelicans. I am usually in a rush using my bike everyday for work.

Plus, if you stack the cases in the garage, the bottom of one case won't mark the top of the other. I may go with an "X", layout.

I think the side opening design with the lower well is going to work well. I kept my liner bags from my Caribou Case setup and hope to use them on the V2's. I'm thinking I'll load loose items in the well and everything else in the liner bags and set that on top. Might not need liner bags with the MicaTech design, but I'm so used to them I'm probably too old to change!

That cargo net idea has merit. I'm going to give that some thought.

I'm glad we got to the minimum for the discount, though I would have bought these either way.

I would have bought them as well, as I feel they are the best USA made luggage on the market.

As a recent addition to the 10+ club, I will be ordering the black cases. I chose black as I think they will blend in better with the black bike and not call attention to the cases vs. the bike, but that's just me. I'm sure the other combos mentioned will look just fine. If touch ups are needed, the black might be a bit easier. I sure hope that is not necessary :-[

There are some other items that I considered:

Those roof racks look like a handy item. More opportunies to tie stuff down and also more adult sparkling beverage holders :p Interesting that they ship for free.

The 3M reflective decals might be a good thing and they are precut to fit the V2. Not a bad price either. The black ones would not be noticeable in the daytime so much.

The locks for the carriers. Are they really necessary?

So, how many have considered these case farkles?

One thing that bothers me a bit is the shipping. I priced the case's shipping only at $102 and the cases plus all the above farkles at $122 shipping via UPS ground. Can't they just put the other stuff in the same box for the same price. These shipping costs are not a deal breaker for me at all, BUT I have purchased many things over the internet, including big screen TVs, motorcycle tires, etc. where shipping was free. Honda Direct Line is a good example, where they have frequent 10% off and free shipping with purchases over $100.

Quoting the shipping statement on Micatech: "These fees do not necessarily represent UPS published rates and may include handling charges levied by Micatech Motorcycle Luggage."

Before everyone thinks I'm whining, I do think these are good bags for the buck and ought to look great on the bike.

I think shipping rates are high, but I guess that's one of the follies.

I am only getting a color option to keep my costs down. I may also ride there when my bike gets here and pick them up. I will probably have the racks sent to me in advance though. It's 20 seconds to put them on once the racks are mounted.

Code will be given next week.

I have not talked to them about shipping, but if they want to crack me another 23.00 for the extras I'm not sure I will buy the cases. I'm tired of companies ripping off people on shipping. I purchased the HDB top clamp and was charged 15.02 for ups ground and it could have gone Priority Mail for 5.95. That is a rip in my opinion. Just venting..

Well, yeah...Sometimes a second party on Amazon will be offering a little two-bit part that costs about 1/3 the price of shipping. Just put the darned thing in an envelope and mail it!!! Nice thing about Amazon, if they are first party shipper, anything over 25 bucks ships for free. And of course a great way to dodge paying sales tax, but sooner or later those greedy GD politicians will make sure that goes away, along with some freedom of speech on the internet

Some companies charge for shipping in tiers. I think Northern Tool does that, IIRC. Doesn't make a lot of sense, considering that items are different sizes and weights. Like anything up to a certain price paid, like for instance up to $250 gets one shipping cost and then it goes up in steps...???

Anyway, this is not a deal breaker for me. One thing about purchasing OEM bags, I don't know about shipping, but certainly sales tax since you are purchasing from a brick and morter.

I'm going two tone paint (black w/gray doors), roof racks and the locks for the side racks.

I have a call into American Airlines regarding purchasing a plane ticket for getting the stuff down here economically. I just hope the seat belt will fit around all this stuff. :D

Japako, That sounds like a mix up to me. On top-clamp-only orders, Paul always used to ship via the small flat rate box. Since it's off topic, I'm sending you a PM so we look into this offline.
