Hi - All. Happy Trails from Amarillo Texas.

The map shows two Tenere's destined for this fine city. One blue and one black.

Salute & Thanks to all for sharing their info and experience with those noobs like myself.

I've been travelling for the last thirty ++ years on bicycles. Even though this will be my third motorcycle, its been a long time since the last one.

Will be very very odd travelling more than 75 miles per day. 'spose I can draw a much larger diameter circle on the map for a camping spot each evening, eh? hahaa this is gonna be funner and faster!!

Hope to see you under the big sky.

;D ~ Mike

Hello and welcome Mike. The motorized two wheeler is going to give you a lot more range per day. ;)

Thanks - Speedstar.

The coast is definitely on my short list. I already have two years of trips lined up and I don't even own a motorcycle. :'(

I plan to be sleeping in a bit later in the mornings on my motorized travels and feeling a bit less weary when I arrive at night. Imagine I'll be weighing a few pounds heavier as well. What really suprizes me is that bicycles and motorcycles both target simliar sized loads, based on pannier volumes/sizes. I kinda thought the motorbikes would be carrying more volume. I guess the consequences of an unstable load are a bit more severe at 70 mph vs. 12 mph. Maybe common sense and experience is the limiting factor. ;) Not to worry as all my gear is light weight. Not to worry - I hope.

welcome aboard Mike!!!! What were your two previous motorcycles? I think you will be quite surprised at how much different the new SuperT is from what you had before!

mr pincher - mike, you will have fun here too. We are all a bunch of bicyclists, its just we don't like to pedal all that much. We enjoy the friendships, travel and scenery just the same.

Thanks for the welcome.

Am having fun with the forums, reading about all the options, opinions, etc. Have already bought the helmet, jacket, pants, a few tools, boots, even Santa got in on the action and gave me a nice cover for the Tenere. BTW - Santa thinks I've flipping lost it with this motorcycle.

I found several old wrenches from my 1983 Yamaha XJ 650. I looked up the specs on that bike and it shows 509 lbs dry. I distinctly remember picking that bike off the streets more than once and never thought nothing of it. Since I claim to be smarter now :) and in better physical shape, I don't think Ill be loosing any sleep over the weight of this Tenere.

Sorry to go on and on.

Two previous bikes: 70's 250 Suzuki & the XJ 650 Yamaha 1983. The wierd thing about these bikes is - it never occured to me that I could load up my camping gear and travel on one of these bikes as recreation. Too bad I never thought of it then - becuase I sure could of had some fun and stayed out of some of the trouble I got into with my other pastimes.
