I am a long time rider and have taken Goldwings and CBR's where they should never have gone. I am retiring soon and had planned on getting an African Twin. Last Sunday a coworker said he was selling his bike and that I should buy it. Nope, I want an AT and you know it. He kept telling me about it and I kept saying no. Then he said... okay, I will give you a really good "Friend Price". No, those usually aren't that good. His bike is a 2017 with 13,489 miles with Moose Racing panniers and top box with organizers in the lids, Yoshimura pipe, tall and short windshield, stock and Corbin seat, full crash bars setup and a few other small things. He said $9,000 for everything. Huh... well I went and took it for a test drive last night and wrote him a check. At 11:1 compression I figure it takes only premium gas. I will digest the owners manual, change out the fork oil and engine coolant, check the clutch and reservoir fluids too. Otherwise everything is up to date. Then put in the ABS on/off mod, belly pan and aux lights and a Quad-lock wireless charger and a few other things. Looking forward to learning and contributing to this forum. I am near Rockford, Illinois and do all my own maintenance. I need to buy a Yamaha shop manual for this thing too. Is there an electronic version on this forum?
