I have been through green water on the main road is all. Some say the nachos is doable, but challenging.

I've gone a little ways (a couple miles?) up the Naches Trail. It does start to get really rocky a little higher up. I'd say the part I traveled was just like Hoebster pointed out, "tough but doable" on the big bike. Not sure how hairy it got further up the trail. There were some Jeeps that were navigating some big rocks in the trail so instead of waiting, I ended up turning around and heading up one of the easier forest service roads. (NF-7000 maybe?)

I ended up following some forest service roads back into the Naches OHV area near highway 12. It was a good ride. There is also a route that crosses the Cascades to Cle Elum. I imagine that this will be one of the off road routes that is planned for the gathering in August.

One of the guys from the ADV forums was up there last weekend. Still lots of snow. Didn't get anywhere near the top of the ridge.

Heck, yeah. FS 70 just past Greenwater is one of my favorite areas to ride, especially starting on Naches Pass and then taking Pyramid Pass over to Stampede and then connecting with I-90. Super cool. There are some parallel roads to 410 instead of all of Naches proper. I think that stretches of Naches Pass can be a little hairy on the big machine. I am wiling to try it at some point, but need to install my K60's. Have done all those other roads on my OEM's.

I also vote "no" on the Natches trail proper. It starts out benign, but as you work your way E is has some very muddy steep grades, especially this time of year. And its heavily used by the Jeepers and they often crawl over the road in long groups who will not let you pass.

But FR70/FR19 is a great way to get across the crest and is fairly big-bike friendly. It dumps out near Whislin' Jack on 410 which is a nice spot for lunch. Or you can connect up with I-90.

Doubt any of this higher stuff is open snow-wise for another few weeks though.

Mark. You have right with the snow. Sometimes you have to wait until late June and can only ride into early October. I have posted these pictures (and a lot more) before on another thread (search), but here is a couple from the Naches area, including a glimpse at the start of the "interesting" part (I didn't tackle it after talking with some 250 cc riders).

Nice photos, beautiful country. I did the Natches Trail (not the forest roads) on a KTM 640 a few years back and it was not super tough, although I did find myself inching down some very steep/slick hills. But I'm a wuss and somebody who is really good and had TKC's would probably think "no big deal". It was all torn up by the Jeepers. If I were on my S10, I would have turned around.

And I wonder about the ABS. I have had some strange sensations going down some steep "goat paths" with the ST. Not critical, just strange when you expect the back tire to lock up and slide a little and it doesn't.

Steep, muddy hills where you're just trying to control speed and get to the bottom in one piece is the one situation where I fault the ABS system before starting down.

Hi guys!
I'd like to enlist yalls help later this summer in scouting the area for our Aug 16/17 ride.
http://pnwsuperteneres.wordpress.com
We will be out scouting the routes July 19-20.
If y'all can't make those dates could I get a ride report, GPS tracks or road conditions w/pics? Any help would be greatly appreciated! ::001::
