Hmmm...I got a letter from Yamaha hdqtrs. in Cypress, Ca., a few days ago but it didn't have any code #(ie:165227 like hANNAbONE). It congratulated me on my decision to buy the Super Tenere and showed me the 3 accessory packages available for the bike. Am I supposed to be getting a letter confirming my bike purchase? I ordered mine on 12/16/10.

I ordered a couple weeks ago on 12/17/2010 and stopped last week to get my number. My dealer said there wasn't an order number, but when I asked him if there was a number that started in the 160,xxx range, he gave me 166253. I've seen a fairly wide spread on these numbers and since it is unlikely that there have been 5,000+ Super Tenere ordered, I don't think these numbers are used ONLY for Tenere orders; or, if so, not just for U.S. Tenere orders. The number is just going up too fast. Would be interesting to start a thread that ONLY contained "Order Number - Date Placed - Date Received". Maybe I'll start one. There are threads that have some numbers mixed in, but nothing dedicated that I know of.

I've heard of the 1st letter...what's contained in the 2nd letter??

Sounds to me like it somewhat redundant, same same info info - nothing new...no projected dates of delivery etc.

Can someone please explain what this 2nd letter contains?

FYI : my 1st letter seemed to cover the items that everyone's did...am I missing something?

I am looking for the letter that says, " Congratulations, your Super Tenere is being delivered three months early. We hope this will be acceptable." ;)

Now you're talking!!!! Anytime soon would work for me. Heck, I would even trailer it home, since there is too much snow/ice on my roads to ride it home!!

When Dealers receive our VIN numbers is when things will start to happen. :)

Anybody have experience with previous PDP programs to know how far in advance the dealers have access to the VIN numbers? Could be good on having some time to shop insurance before the bikes get here.

I have ordered two FJR's and it seems that about three months out the dealer will be advised of what is going to ship to him and which warehouse it will ship from. My FJR is a 2006 though (my gawd, has it really been 5 years?) so things may have changed since then.
