Anyone mounted one of these on the ST yet?

Just bought one from Amazon for a killer price, so I thought I would give it a try. Just looking for mounting options.

I haven't been too impressed with videos I've seen from bike-mounted cameras unless they were on a smooth track. For anything bouncy, like dirt, you need more shock absorbsion. So mounting it on your body, especially your head, works better. Personally, I prefer the rider's-eye view of things. Did your "killer-deal" GoPro come with a bag of mounts?

We are talking about semi-permanently affixing a mounting plate on your helmet, which you may or may not approve of. I have one on my MX helmet but not my full-face helmet.

I have a chest harness, which I had high hopes for. Unfortunately, it's so low as to view through the windscreen, which gives a very distorted view.

Good luck with your mounting options. Anything RAM-Mount must be awesome :)

Yeah, the unit that was on sale was the Helmet version, so it has a bunch of different mounts with it. Not to wild about mounting anything hard to my helmet (I fall down alot), but cold see where that would be the preferred method in rough terrain (your legs make great shocks).

I did a few videos with my GoPro mounted on the center rail of my SW-Motech bars. Videos were very steady. I later tried some with it mounted on the top rail of those bars and I like that better. With that view, it is a bit higher off the road and it also shows the Super Tenere decal in the side of the screen. Here is one shot from the center rail.

I have one though haven't mounted it yet. It will be easy to mount for the rear mount though more difficult for the front body mount. Guessing the engine guards can provide a good and simple mount. Bought the LCD BacPac and Battery BacPac. Need to buy various mounts. EyeOfMine http://www.eyeofmine.com/gopro/ was suggested to me by a KLR friend.

Considering buying the Hero2 and mounting front, rear, helmet, or chest camera's.

I bought the handlebar mount kit to mount it on my crash bars. Tried the suction cup mount on the windscreen, but it has too much vibration.

Enjoyable video.

8:05 "Lookin' for a truck", was this intentional?

I really liked that road for an enjoyable ride. Guessin 60 MPH?

Have you tried mounting the camera on the rear / forward?

I have one brand new sitting in mt garage. I don't have a computer to even edit a video with it. I don't know if I could get it to work on this IPad for editing.

Hi Tim,

Glad you enjoyed the video. I did do a bit of editing to get the truck in there about the right time. Speed was in the 60-70 range, as I recall. I also took a video with my Contour helmet mounted camera at the same time and you can see it here to get another prospective, same road, same time, same music. There are pros and cons for the two cameras. I had the Contour on the right side of my helmet, as I have my Scala Rider G4 on the left side. With my dirt helmet, I mount the Contour on the left. Also I had it on SD rather than HD for this video, as I didn't have my high memory card in it at the time. Never tried the Go Pro from the rear, but later I did mount it on the top rail and I like that better than the midrail in the first video.

Fred, nice video again. Looks like 8 seconds difference. I expected more head movements though was impressed.

"Location: IL, the land of straight, flat, boring roads" This video must have come from a different state. Very nice Sunday Afternoon Ride Road.

The head movement you see is me checking the rear view mirrors to check on my son, who was following on his Wee Strom. Yes, this is in southern Missouri, land of great flowing twisty roads. It was at the start of a 2200 mile week long trip that my son and I did in October touring southern MO and northern Arkansas.

I have more videos that I have to edit and upload, one good one is in AR south of Mt Judea with some uphill switchbacks that were down to 1st or 2nd gear. Check my youtube channel. freddiez43 and if you subscribe, you will get notifications when I upload more.

Now back to or normal programming, GoPro Hero video camera. I notice that the Go Pro has more of a wide angle lens than the Contour and so you get a different prospective. Also all my Go Pro videos start with a view of me looking into the lens to make sure that it is turned on and in the right mode. The Contour has an easily operated slide switch on top and it beeps when you turn it off or on, so it is easy to start and stop whilst riding.
