Anyone seen or have these cases on their S.T.? I am considering them as they seem to be pretty well built and have specific mounts for the S.T.

Hey Rob, welcome!

A few folks around here have the Trekkers, one of them being ColoRider, who is a moderator and undoubtedly will be along soon to answer any question you might have about them if anybody else doesn't chime in first.

OK - thanks. I hope they are good since I really like the looks and think they would be great. Look forward to hearing more about them. Am also planning to get the case bags for the inside to go with.

They seem to be up to the task in most cases from the reports I've read. I've only heard one negative report so far where a guy was taking them on some pretty long offroad excursions. He reported that he lost one hinge wire and came close to losing another. Apparently the hinge wires slowly backed out of the hinges under steady rough road conditons. He had to finish his trip with one of the doors strapped to the bike

I'm thinking there must be a way of preventing that though. Could even be possible that Givi has already fixed it...just don't know for sure.

I have the Trekkers and like them. Over 4000 miles and no troubles. I have not had them on when off road. I used the SW-Motech racks which I modified to fit better.

Do you have the same capacity case on each side or did you go for symmetry? Bossier?!...
I remember passing through there on the way to a tiny town on the Mississippi West bank called Buras. Spent a couple of weeks there on a Honda CB360T riding down levee roads paved with sea shells and eating huge bags of crawfish like popcorn. What a unique experience for west coast boy. 8)

Welcome aboard Omaha Tenere! Yes, I have the Trekkers and I had been quite pleased with them, as I have all my previous Givi products. They have not been without issue though, but my rcommendation still holds. I too had one of the hinge pins that wanted to back out. My plan was to add a drop of JB Weld or comparable at the end of the hinge area. I did experience some minor leakage on mne after a trip. I contacted Givi and they sent me a new set. Since mne were some of the early ones sold, they were going to analyze them to determine what the problem was. I have not had my repoacements on a trip.
I have mne mounted on SW Motech racks, which I prefer to the Givi racks as I run a larger bag on the right side. I use a Givi rack for the tail bag.

Good luck!

If you were to buy hard cases today knowing your past experience, would you still pick Givi or go with something else that is available in the U.S.?

I have them. I like that you can make them top loading or side loading however, they do leak some and if I had to do it again, I'd get the Pelican cases that twisted throttle sells - I do like the givi mounts over the sw motech mounts however.

If you're interested in them let me know and maybe I'd make a good deal on them for you.

@Mellow, have you talked to Givi about the leaking? I would think that is not "normal" for their cases. Well, at least I hope not. Maybe just a bad seal or something....

Not yet, I know Rod's leaked as well and they're sending him some more..

They don't leak a lot but I keep a couple laptops with me sometimes for work and can't afford to have issues if the bags leak. I still cover things with trash bags but would be nice not to worry about it. The pelican cases are the ONLY thing I've seen luggage-wise that are watertight.

I have a set of three Trekkers that I got shortly after ColoRider and mine leaked as well, and I lost one of the hinge pins on one bag. Givi has since replace all three bags (two 46L and one 33L). I like that I can mix and match the bags as either top box or side bags. I would normally run the 33L on the left side and the 46L one the right side and top. But on local jaunts in the dirt I use only one bag as a top box. The 46L will hold my helmet for commutes to work. I used the SW Motech side racks and the Altrider rear rack.

I would probably go with them again (assuming these new ones do not leak) just because of the versatility and price.

Yes, I have 2 33L panniers. We eat crawfish some, love em. The boys down south can fix up some gumbo that you probably should not ask what is in it!

Thanks for the info on the cases. I had some gumbo and it tasted great. Somehow I sensed that I shouldn't ask the ingredients though. :D I visited there in 79 (yep, I'm dating myself), and I hear the place has been wiped out at least twice by hurricanes since then, but continues to bounce back...quite the survivors down there.

I bow hunted with some of the southern folks. One guy had a full chest freezer of fish/deer/steaks and after Katrina (he was not directly hit) electricity was out for 2 weeks. When they realized they would most likely loose the freezer, had big cookouts every day for the neighborhood. Lots of stories from down there how they made do during and after.

I met some Cajuns that fed them selves and other family with what ever season was open. No big deal to see a john boat with 10hp motoring down the canal with a pirogue in it. Run the john boat till the stumps and logs stop you then bring out the canoe/pirogue. I can listen to them talk for hours.

Hi guys,

Can one of you with the 33/46 cases and SW Motech frames let me know what the total width is please? I currently have a 1200GS and I am doing some research into various S10 pannier options before deciding whether I make the trade. I really like the look of the Trekkers, and I have always had good experience with Givi kit in the past.

Many thanks,

Matt

I am having trouble with both cases (Trekker Outbacks) becoming very difficult to release from the hanger. I sent the 48 back to the dealer. I ended up breaking the release handle on the replacement due to the jamming problem. Right now I am not a fan. Still trying to resolve this with the dealer.

I have the twin 33 and the 46 top case set up.
There are the gen 2 version with side clasps to cure the leaking issue, I can testify they are leak proof too.
Awesome cases fit well, release well, look good on the bike and with a back pad (on order) make for a really comfortable pillion space for her indoors.
