I have the Givi Trekker Outback 48L/37L combo side cases. I am wanting the top case to go with it but trying to decide between the 58L or 42L. I primary will be doing road touring to light adventure touring and often with my wife as a passenger. Having plenty of room will make my wife happy but is that 58L too big of a monster? Can the side cases be opened with it mounted?

If you buy the bigger top case the right side pannier will not hinge open. You have to open it a little and then remove the lid by releasing both hinges.

@doc187 For the avoidance of doubt, do you know if the smaller case has the same issue?

I bought my S10 a couple of weeks ago and it came with the Givi V46N but no panniers, so I bought the 37L/48L Outback combo separately. The larger (RHS) lid just misses the topbox if I pull it sideways (there's plenty of slack in the hinge) it as it opens.

My plan is to buy the smaller Outback topbox and mount it on the Altrider luggage rack, so I can ebay the V46N+baseplate. I'm a little concerned though (having measured) that even the smaller Outback topbox would be too wide at the front to allow the RHS pannier lid to open, even with the pulling-sideways trick (at least on the S10).
