Givi rear luggage rack weight capacity

The Givi rear luggage rack on the Super Tenere says that 6 kg is the maximum weight allowed. I have a GIVI 46 liter Trekker case on it and it weighs about 6 kg empty. I usually put about another 6-7 kg in the case so my question is what horrible thing is going to befall me? I can't imagine that this is accurate. I even contacted altrider and they reaffirmed that 6kg was the weight capacity. Does anybody have any experience with top case rack failure on a Super Tenere?

Much of that is a CYA from the suppliers. I can tell you 6kg on the rear while traveling on pavement is completely different than offroad bouncing through some baby heads. Common sense is the proper course of action.

I can tell you I've loaded my Givi 50L topcase with an additional 25lbs of tools and traveled hundreds of miles on pavement with no issues.

You are meant to put things in the box then fill the gaps with helium.
Hydrogen can also be used... but don't smoke near it ::025::
