Re: 2014+ Windscreen Poll (What works for tall large riders?)

Took my '14 out for a longer ride--45 degrees out. I'm 6 foot with OEM shield on highest position and winglets, but needed to hunch down about an inch to get in the bubble, so I'll be curious to hear your report.

My thoughts are tall shield in cool weather and switch to short in lowest position (clean air) during summer. Temperature ranges from 20's winter to 100's summer, so 2 windshields will probably be the best setup.

Parabellum get my vote every time, great folks to deal with and they have several options for the S10. I have the tall tinted version on my bike and it works like a charm

I have the OEM touring windscreen and "winglet" as they are refereed to here; I'm 6'-2"
I voted even though I don't feel qualified as I've only had the bike for two weeks but I wanted to see the results.
So far I'm satisfied with the wind protection but have not made that lond trip yet.
The jury is still out on the OEM seat....more to come. -JEP-

I have the MRA and winglets. I don't recommend this shield - especially with an Arai XD-4. I get a head shake at speed. (spoiler raised fully).

The buffeting is definitely reduces, but turbulent air not raised enough. I have to hunch down a little and look through the screen to smooth things out. I don't like looking through the smoke screen, and the spoiler is distracting. Spoiler should come in clear, so light transmission isn't reduced twice. I'm 5'11" / 180cm

Might try the Parabellum or Cee Bailey . . . or Cal Sci . . .

OEM winglets + Givi screen + madstad on tallest setting all the way forward = win. I'm 6'2", 32 inseam

At 6'5" I find the stock screen has the air hitting me in the chin, and the after-market screen hitting me right in the air vents on my RF1200. Buffeting gets pretty annoying. Haven't tried much else, though.

Re: 2014+ Windscreen Poll (What works for tall large riders?)

Just tried out the Yamaha OEM Tall Screen today along with the Yamaha OEM winglets. For me this is a very good combo -- works almost as well as the Givi Airflow on my V-Strom. I am 6'1" tall with a 33" inseam.

I found that for me the Tall screen worked well in the lowest position, allowing me to ride with the visor open and with minimal buffeting. Note that I did not test at speeds above about 65 mph, as I rarely cruise at higher speeds for very long.

Nice information Thank You For Posting it ....

MY WINDSCREEN HISTORY ...

When I lived in the Ca Bay Area, I owned a 2008 KLR650.

I did buy a CalSci windscreen for it and results were that it removed all the buffeting at freeway speeds. Great quality and had it for years.

I have also had great luck with the Givi Airflow (~ $240) on my 2012 DL650 and a Cee Bailey ( ~ $200) on my wife's 2014 CTX700.
Wife tried Honda OEM tall and did not like it .. so .. as at the time only Cee Bailey made screens for her bike ... CB works well and she is happy.
Givi Airflow is great on the DL650... except for rain bleed through on your chest due to its split design.

(Both are good not great @ 80 + MPH interstate shields ... from riding a 600+ mile day on I-95 ride back from Maggie Valley) ... ) Both bikes are not great high speed interstate rides but they can do it .... when staying up with friends on HD touring bikes ...

I am new to the S10 ES so wanted to try out the OEM options as comments suggest they my work for me and as accidents can occur it is much easier to get OEM replacements when on the road .... but I have an open mind ... so if the OEM Tall + Winglets do not meet my needs .... ! will consider options such as the ( ~ $ 200 ) CalSci

Q: I noticed they do not list a XXL large shield for the S10?

Re: 2014+ Windscreen Poll (What works for tall large riders?)

I will be buying the oem tall screen, as I bought the winglets, and now I cannot lower my stock windscreen, mine is a 2015 model.

though, even with the tall windscreen, I still willl not be able to lower my screen in hot Mexican days...

yamaha copied everything from bmw, I remember buying the rear wheel splash guard from MAIER, for my gs, the problem is that they don't make one for the ST.

love the reliability of the bike VS. bmw gs. ::015:: ::021::

I don't even bother anymore like a Cat chasing a mouse! ::)
The wings helped with stock screen.

Re: 2014+ Windscreen Poll (What works for tall large riders?)

6'3" inseam about 32"
Currently 2014 ES with Yamaha winglets and Yamaha tall OEM windscreen set at highest position adjustment

A great improvement from OEM stock shield w/o winglets (night and day)

Calm wind on face some rough air on top of helmet. A lot of clean wind on arms and shoulders. note: Wide guy with monkey arms wearing a t-shirt in Florida at 65 F was 5 mph winds.

After a week or so and a few 100 miles will report back.

Thanks everyone for your posts and comments

Re: 2014+ Windscreen Poll (What works for tall large riders?)

2014 with Yamaha tall windshield w/winglets, pretty good wind management but I recently had my first rainy day ride and found that I really struggled to see with the amount of rain I was getting on my faceshield but not getting enough air to blow the water off my faceshield. I may try a Madstadt bracket.

6'4'' here with 2" Rox Risers pushed fwd a lot, TT mount and oem screen pushed max fwd.
Low or high I can ride with MX helmet all day long.

Works like a charm.
