Glad they are finally looking to the future and stepping into this century.. I'm assuming these new electric bikes are using brushless motors, does anyone know for sure. As batteries get better we will all see more and more of this technology. As far as 'power' potential, its basically unlimited in a very small package for almost any application. High HP and TQ at very low RPM's and the ability to rev to the moon with out a transmission.. I bet we see this Harley in the new 'Marvel' movie....
I want to see E. Musk and MotoCzysz come out with a E-bike... ::26::

Cool stuff......

This thing has the potential to change my mind about electric motorcycles, which I have always seen as bland and appliance-like. It sounds like a jet airplane, and that's not a bad thing!

Very cool that H-D is doing this. ::008::

Though most "gearheads" like to look down a bit at electric motors, it's all too easy to forget that they embody, essentially, the "Holy Grail" of all engine builders - i.e. max torque at zero RPM. That's really what makes them such phenomenal powerplants. In fact, in almost all the current electric bikes around the motors are essentially "governed" at initial and small "throttle" openings because otherwise their torque would be beyond the skills of most riders to handle. It is only the relative recent development of electronic speed controllers (ESC's) that has allowed the full potential of really high output electric motors to be realized for motorcycle use.

Like it or not, folks... Electric bikes are coming, and Harley may have hit one thing that might help their own succeed in the marketplace where others have not - the sound. Watch the "Cycle World" video and you see what I mean. While most don't care for the fact electric motorcycles are so eerie quiet, a whole new generation of young motorcycle rider might think one that sounds like a jet aircraft is pretty cool.

I'd buy electric if I could. You can already buy a frigging Prius that gets better gas mileage than our motorcycles and an electric bike on a tight twisty road would be awesome.

I could see Harley kick butt with this or it could be another line that they try and then kill off. In either event, I am excited to see them trying and they are upping the electric bike game with one that has style. The existing ones save weight by being small and feel like minibikes. This looks like a V-Rod variant so already has established looks.

Needing more range is obvious. Can hardly make to the bar and home on 53 miles. And that's with a new battery. Heck I couldn't make the daily commute.

It's interesting that they chose rear foot pegs, when their claim to most everything else is foot forward. I'd like to see the design made a bit more practical. The solo seat, mirrors, rear fender, etc are just styling exercises. I've participated in some car design research and they come with a test mule, plus a bunch of photos for alternative looks to different aspects. "How would this interior look versus that one?" how would this light look versus that one?" I would like to see the alternate ideas that Harley has for their road show.

I'll probably need to wait for Gen2 to afford it.

Pretty sure I've never said this in my life...good for Harley.

I'm sure it will be too expensive a short range toy for me to consider, but more options of all kinds are welcome in the market. More choice, more options, it's good for all of us. Go Harley (I know I've never said that before).

Think of the after market opportunity here. Add a powerful amplifier and set of speakers so it can output some seriously annoying noise to make the Harley faithful feel at home. Could lead to a new motto, "Loud Lady GaGa saves lives"

It's nice looking, well proportioned, non-Harley ergos, I like it. For a commuter, return to base machine, that'd be cool. Probably kind of expensive now but someday...
