Went down to my Local dealer yesterday to put a deposit down on a new 17 Tenere and was told that I may have to go out of town to get one as they can't find anyone in the province willing to give one up to them for me to buy. Unreal. They had one coming for stock and sold it to pgrider here on the site. So now I may have to travel 7-8 hours out of town to find myself a tenere for this season. See what happens next week after Easter weekend.

What they should do is contact Yamaha Canada and have them source one for the dealership, but knowing dealers, they just cannot be bothered to do the extra legwork. I had the same problem in the UK when I wanted an ES, the dealer I was dealing with said they had none in the country, I called up Yamaha UK and they said they could get them for the dealer, but the dealer would have to put in a request...... that never happened, but gave me an insight to the relationship I was going to have with said dealer........
Good luck either way ::008::

Am I missing something? How hard is it to send an email, requesting a product, that you carry, that will make you money?! I understand that dealers have to sell what they are issued, but generally customers can order anything; and receive it.

My local Mountain Motorsports dealers wouldn't budge from 16199 + all the crap fees and taxes. Tried all of them. "hard to get, very good bike, can't do wholesale, we have to pay technicians to put it together' yada yada yada.
Ended up getting my '17ES from 9hrs drive away!

With the weather breaking all across our continent, the Tenere is like the poster-bike for fly & ride.

After all, it is an ADVenture bike. May as well have an ADVenture to inaugurate it!

Not complaining at all.
I get to ride Blue Ridge Parkway - End to end - on the ride home. Best Break-In ride!

I made an 800 mile round trip to Romney Cycles to get my 2014 Super Tenere, because every dealership in North Carolina was apparently under the impression that the bike was platinum plated. As always, they gave me a great price and great service, so they're always going to be my first stop when I'm bike shopping.

2015/2016 models (new) are going for $14-15k in dealerships around Vancouver. The model hasn't changed since 2014 except colours. It might be worth the trip to the west coast. You could save $3-4K afterall. Just a thought.

These guys in Penticton had one on their showroom floor last Friday. I saw it through the window when I stopped by. They were closed due to the holiday. http://www.vantagepsm.com/

If not..Motorsportsworld in Ottawa has an ES coming and as of yesterday it's not spoken for..you could fly and ride...

Just a thought..

This is one of Yamaha's most popular mounts..Last year they were sold out by the beginning of May...

I reserved mine last December just to sure I got one..

Cheers,

Gobear

Not that long ago people thought prices were low because they weren't selling. Just like the FJR, Yamaha initially built too many for the market and had to figure out how many to build.

I'm still trying to figure out why I never see any on the road. I've only seen two in the last four months; one in Ft. Worth & one in Lampasas.

That is strange since there's as many in Texas as any place on the planet.

(based on a few data points over the years)
I'm not saying I see them daily, but hardly a rare sighting.
Not to mention there 5 or 6 of us, that have ridden together, down here in the rural area just northwest of Galveston.

You will love the bike ..except the windshield ..I installed a Madstad last week just after I picked up the bike .

:0)
This depends on your height/torso. The new S10 stock windshield is perfect for me. Ride a few hundred kms, try different helmets (if you have more than one) and then decide.
