Trip F resets on its own? Cool! I always just reset it before I leave the pump. Does trip F start up no matter which odo is displayed?
The Trip F resets itself within a mile or so of refueling and it always pops up when the last LCD segment starts to flash...no matter what ODO is displayed.

Is the Tenere fuel pump in the tank and lubricated by the fuel itself, as in most modern automobiles? If so, wouldn't running the tank dry compromise the longevity and reliability of the pump? I'm not striking wise, I really don't know the answers (at least regarding this bike)

Paul
As one who has pulled apart my tank and fuel pump, yes the pump is lubricated/cooled by the fuel itself. You would have to get down to less than 1/2 gallon in the tank to fully expose the actual fuel pump, which sits at almost the very bottom of the tank. If you run the tank almost empty every time you might decrease it's life.

Here is a pic of the fuel pump, with the bottom cover removed (it's in the upper left side of the pic) and the 'actual' pump almost completely removed from its plastic housing.

Just for your info; the trip odometer? It starts counting up from zero when you hit "reserve". By the time that count 'up' reaches 40-50, you'll be walkin' pretty soon. It also needs to be reset to zero when you fill up. Unless you were on your main odo, then I don't know what the screen does.

I reckon I ought to read that swanky manual under the seat huh?

I noticed that too (the odo count), but I chalked it up to thinking I might have accidentally hit a button when I was starting it up....so when you switch to reserve, the trip meter kicks in and tells you how far you have gone.....that is sweet

Or do I what I did and download the owners manual from the Yamaha web site (it's a .pdf) and put it on your smartphone! I also have copies of the service manual and parts manual on my phone for this bike & my other rides as well.

You're welcome..... ::003::
Yeah I know. I had no choice. Comes from my dad being a F-84/F-86/F-100/F-4 Crew Chief and 'there is only one way, the right way' being pounded into me as I was growing up.. And I'm in the business as well. The engineering degree doesn't help either.

Drives the wife nuts, so there is some good out of it :D :D :D

P.S. Got dried out yet (your bike anyway!)?

We need guys like you around to do just the kind of things you have been doing in this thread.... :-* even if it is a bit confronting for some of us slack-ass fiddlers and wannabe perfectionists.

Most of us boys have been trying to live up to our fathers expectations for our whole lives :-[ and some of our dads had pretty high expectations of us ::) our parents never stop being parents and we will go to our grave trying to please them... even after they are long gone ::021:: ::26:: ::26::
