I rode 25 miles on reserve last weekend when I fueled it only took 4.6 gal, meaning the low fuel trip odo is coming on with about 2 gal left.

Does anybody know if the gauge can be calibrated?

I assume you mean 1.4 gallons left (bike is spec with a 6 gallon tank).

The amount of time and effort it would take to "calibrate" the fuel sensor would be prohibitive, unless you got a lot of time. While I look at my fuel gauge, I know that at around 210 miles, I have to refuel. I can tell you that while fuel guages work fine in cars, I have never had one to be that accurate on a bike. Trust me the old ways are the best ways. ::021::

The method behind the madness is they don't want you to cut it to close especially if you are back in the middle of now where. I have been out in the boonies and the fuel light came on and barely made it back to civilization burning fumes when I got to the station (did mean to push it quite so far). Just gives you a little leeway when riding. I like having it come on that early. Saved walking a few times ::025::

I guess they did ride more and worry less.
You're picking up a 5 year old thread.
