I have been wondering if someone has any ideas where the fuel filter is. Or how often I should change or clean it. And many more questions...
I believe the fuel filter is attached to fuel pump, as all the fuel injected bikes, but has anyone done any kind of maintenance to it??? My bike is a 2012 model with 40 000 kilometers. I have done all the services per manual but I have not seen anything regarding the fuel filter.
I will be leaving for a long trip soon and I have got this topic on my head for a while already.

Share your experience and knowledge please!!!!

Thanks

There is no maintenance interval for the filter. Others have gone many more miles without any issues. In areas where there might be a higher chance of fuel contamination, changing the fuel sock every 30-40,000 miles might be good, provided you can find an auto parts store that will let you go through their filter boxes and find one that looks like a fit. There is a post here somewhere that shows some good candidates for the swap.

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assy. It can't be changed but can be "flushed out" to a point. And as Don said there are replacement socks for the inlet of the pump. I think I seen some on ebay. There is a secondary filter in the housing that you can't take out. I just back flushed mine with brake cleaner a few times. The pump is fairly easy to remove using care with the fuel sending unit is also part of it.

Thanks to BWC for figuring this out.
