Just signed up and wanted to say hi. I dont post much but do lurk and seek answers to quesions I may have. I'm coming off of riding my 2003 DL1000 V-Strom. You may have read about it if you've ever visited the Stromtrooper site. It's the one with 425,000 miles on the original engine, never opened up for any repairs and featured in two On Suzuki magazine articles. It's finally getting wore out and it's time for another bike so I bought a 2014 S10 from 3putt in Rockford Ill last week. I have to say I really like the S10. I'll probably never match my previous mileage but I dont doubt the S10 won't make it. See you on the road somewhere!

Wow, that's a lot of miles! Curious why you didn't get a later generation Strom since you had such a good experience with the first one. Not that I think you made a bad choice :)

Wow, that's awesome on the Vstrom. That's racking up some mileage for sure and is a testament to that motor's longevity. I don't know how many motorcycle engine designs can lay claim to that durability but I doubt it is more than a handful.

Main thing is that I wanted shaft drive and to get away from chains/sprocket replacement, lube and adjusting and just to have something a little different.

Good bikes the old Strom, if a bit crude in places.

I ran the KLV1000 brother, badged as Kawasaki, 2005-8 & used the Stromtrooper site regularly - a real mine of info. Moved on as I just couldn't get the bottom end fuelling sorted, despite a PC, & got myself talked into a KTM990Adv instead, then another, then a big Versys, until arriving at the S10. They all had there strengths, but just too many weak areas compared with the Yamaha.

Enjoy the new ride ....................... KEN

Welcome! I came off an '02 VStrom and was a regular visitor to the StromTrooper site. I'm now the proud owner of a "13 Super T, and decided against another Strom for the very same reasons you sited (Shaft Drive vs. Chain and wanting to try something different)

Anyway, I know you'll enjoy the your new Super T as much as I'm enjoying mine!

I still think Suzuki should buy that bike from you and let the engineers in Japan analyze it! I've been very pleased with my 2013 S10 and other than a few windshields to experiment with and a Givi rack, haven't done a thing with it since buying it new last December.

Welcome! I came here from an 06 Strom Thou, loved every mile on it, had the Sharealike clutch mode which made a huge difference, power commander and dyno to sort the fuelling, it was a great bike but it was time for a change, I do love my S10!

Welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing how many miles you can put on the S10 and how it holds up.

Hi Wera, and welcome to the Super Ten world. I've replied to several of your posts over on the Stromtroopers site over the years, and it's good to have you and your mile-eatin' ways over here. Loved my DL650, but love my S10 even more. 30,000 miles in two years, and I figure the bike will probably outlast me.
