Hi all
Just registered on the site as I'm about to order a new S10 in the UK.
I've had a number of GS's as my bikes over the last 15 or so years but time for a change I think.
Don't get me wrong, I love the beemers and my current 2006 R1200GSA has done 135,000 miles and has never let me down. I had a couple of 1150GSA's before that and an R1100GS which was superb.
However, I run a few motorcycle tours over in the USA www.unchainedtours.com ,and the old girl is a little long in the tooth for that now. I need something to replace her for the tours and it needs to cover the same sort of mileage on all conditions from the super smooth Hwy 1 to the brutal Dalton Highway in Alaska. It will also need to whick me down to Morocco and Portugal with minimum fuss.
Now the 1200WC is a cracking bike and would be ideal but to be honest, it's way over priced. I've had a few customers with them on the trips and they have been excellent but I'm not too sure about the longevity compared with the old 1200 which is pretty much bombproof.
Anyway, I keep looking at the S10 and this year had a good chat with a couple of guys up in Alaska who couldn't say enough about them. I've also spoken with more owners, dealers etc and can't find anyone with a bad word so I'm going to press the order button after the NEC show.
I look forward to getting lots of good tips, advice etc from all on here.
