Hello all. Im adding a 13' Tenere to the fleet tomorrow. It'll be joining a Harley Road King, and a DR 650. I'm hoping it'll be the best of both worlds and I'll be able to part ways with the other 2 bikes, (to simplify my life and declutter the garage). The S10 will be used for commuting, (20 miles to work everyday), patrolling our 300 acre farm, (access roads consisting of hard pack and gravel), and future long haul touring. I'll be adding some sort of cruise control, ( McCruise?) No Throttle lock. Also possibly a bigger windshield. My Road King has me spoiled in both of those aspects. It'll need new tires also. Something more road bias like the Anakee 3's. Opinions welcomed and ride safe!

Fellow Western-ish Pennsylvanian here (transplanted to NC). I had an 04 Road King, which I replaced back in 2012 with a V-strom and then a Super Tenere in 2014. The Road King was a great bike, and I put about 55,000 miles on it, but once I moved over to ADV style bikes I don't really miss the RK at all. Better storage options, more room for a passenger, and way better suited to a trip down Shafer Trail in Moab than the Harley. I'm 101,000 miles in on the Yamaha, and it has never let me down.

The photo on the left is the RK loaded up for a cross country trip, looking like the truck from the Grapes of Wrath. The right is my S10, at the same location a few years later. Same amount of crap, but stored a lot more efficiently. It's an awesome touring platform, and it'll take you places that the Harley dare not go.

McCruise does a good job, just be sure there isn't a 2014+ bike close by that already has cruise. Even if the newer bike is more expensive, the McCruise is not an inexpensive purchase on its own.

I totally agree with this train of thought!
Welcome, in 11 days I will be heading to Eastern Pennsylvania and crossing to Western Pennsylvania via the CPAAT.

I have a DR as well. My 20 ST is actually better on gas then the DR in most situations. Kinda hard to believe!
Have a look at Trail Max Missions. I have them on both bikes. Only down side is a slightly stiffer ride vs radial on ST. Not noticeable on DR.
Good for fire roads and any kind of gravel with lots of safety margin.
Heavy mud or deep sand, not a knobbie.

And welcome from the Great White North
