Given that for many folk, including yours truly, 2016 been a bit of a troubling year, I needed something to make the immediate future feel a little brighter. I have always wanted to have a second bike and something that I can fix using spanners rather than a laptop. Having had some heart surgery, with added "complications" earlier this year, I took full advantage of the familial sympathy and tolerance that was coming my way....................... and bought myself a project '96 Triumph 900 Daytona. I know she's been made to look like a Speed Triple but she is what she is and I'm not usually that impressed by pretenders of any kind.
I've had a soft spot for Hinckley triples for the past 20 years and having always regretted selling my '98 TBS, another 900 triple seemed the natural way to go. She's now taken up residence alongside my S10 and despite superficially looking very clean, is now stripped down and is undergoing a major cleaning and fettling session. I've also been hitting e-bay to get replacements for the components that are worn, broken or bodged up. Happily, most service items and parts are fairly cheap and easy to come by, if you look hard enough. I'm making decent progress with it all and needless to say, I'm as happy as a man can be with all his clothes on. ;D
