Forum re entry questions

I realize I'm relatively new to the forum, but why do I have to take a math quiz to get back in? I was a high school assistant principal until my retirement early this year and I don't mind brushing up on my 2nd grade skills but man... ::013::

OldRider is close to the answer. We get hammered by applications from bots and people trying to help solve erectile dysfunction problems. Right this minute, we have 497 "applicants" waiting to join the forum.


To counter this, we require separated steps and as I remember, we didn't see the separate email to go along with your asking to re-join with your new email address.

By this, if you mean the spammers then heck yes. They've ruined a couple of forums I've been in and have gotten in here a couple of times. We have a pretty small membership but one which is pretty active, so the spammers typically only get a couple of posts in before somebody tells the moderators and the spammers are deleted.


By this, if you mean our procedure, then sort of. Forums which last have to use some type of procedures for people to prove they are real, and there are other methods. A number of those require a subscription for which we'd need to pay and we so far have been able to avoid the need to "sell" advertising space.
