Fork seal leakage. Happy news

Hi,

I noticed a couple days ago that I had leakages from both front forks.
My reaction was: satan i hælvetes jævla dritt, ta han tykje så langt neddi røde hælvete, satan (wrote it in Norwegian in case anyone might feel hurt or violated, but you probably get the gist).

I initially thought of up towards $1000 to fix this shite (I live in Norway ), but thankfully I remembered reading about Seal Mate somewhere some time ago. Living where I do, getting a Seal Mate would’ve taken ages to get here so I made a template of paper and cut out something similar (overstatement with my artistic talent) of thin plastic.
I went out to the garage earlier today and pulled off the front fender and removed and cleaned the fork dust seals. Then I applied my homemade version of the Seal Mate after cleaning up the debris that had gotten thru the dust seals. A couple circumnavigations of each fork, reseated the fork seals and voila, no more leakage

The downside, my homemade Seal Mate crinkled after treatment of both seals, so I’ll invest in the real thing.

So all it boils down to is that this post is a happy story and a shout-out to Seal Mate

Happy regards
Thomas

It says your "seal cleaner' is guaranteed for 10-years.
You should return it for a warranty replacement! :p

With the front fender off, dust seals slide down the tubes and can be easily flushed and wiped clean. Oil seals exposed, the seal mate hook end slides between tube and seal. As you go around the seal diameter you'll get a little fork fluid as seal is disturbed and debris is cleaned out.
