My name is Bob and I went out and bought an FJ-09. There, I said it. So now it's back and forth, forth and back.......which one to keep. The S10 has treated me really fine, but it's time for the 26k valve check and I guess I should complain about the non-existent CCT noise while its in the shop, just to get the newer CCT hopefully under YES that is still valid for another year. And It's probably time for a new battery, even though the original is doing fine.

But oh the siren song of that new triple and the torque that starts down low at 2k and goes all the way to 10! No need for down shifts here. She's a light, nimble and sultry bitch, that will probably cost me some points on my virgin drivers license. She feels a bit small but I like the 150 pound saving over the S10.

At three year's difference in their age, do I opt for the youth of the younger woman or stay with what I know best? Only time will tell, they are both licensed until next May. Racer

I was hoping for a new lighter Tenere with the FJ-09 motor, however, I am hearing Yama Mama has opted to put the FZ 07 twin in a new Tenere. Nice motor, but it isn't the triple.

I really wanted a FZ-09, but now the new VFR1200X is calling me.

Damn bikes. ::26::

More HP, more torque, still shaft drive and smooth V4!

You can't sell your S10, you'll have to give it away. I love my S10, but with only one exception, the VTX 1800, I have never seen a bike loose its value so fast.

I've been contemplating picking up an FJ-09 myself and getting a Wing for touring with the wife.

The FZ-10 looks awesome but I'd want something with a little more wind protection as a commuter and short tour bike.

I'd love to have a new Multistrada (that bike is lights out) but there's no Duc dealer nearby and it's a lot of money for something that needs a lot of TLC.

The VFR12X didn't do much for me.
In what respect? Have you rode one?
I don't take my S10 off-road so that's not a problem for me. Looks..........I don't like the duck-bill but I don't ride 'pretty' bikes anyway.

The FJ09 is a great bike but I don't think it would hold-up in the woods. 8)

You'll have a chain.... yuk.
You said it! One of the biggest selling points of the Super Tenere was the shaft drive. Oh how I wish it was a triple, though...my dad has the FJ-09...and I am jealous of the triple engine. Guaranteed...that bike can stomp all over mine in any gear and any revs.

I'm not checkwrecks, but I did ride a VFR1200X and was really disappointed. First off, it is pretty top heavy compared to my 14 ES. While I loved that V 4 engine in the VFR1200F, it really didn't do anything for me in the X as it has been neutered quite a bit. Seat height is taller and it was a longer reach to the ground at a stop. In short, nothing impressed me except the windscreen adjuster that you can operate with one hand. When I got back from a 20 mile test ride I told my dealer that I wouldn't trade my 14 ES even up for the 16 VFR1200X.

I rode a FJ-09 once and the motor didn't do it for me. Seemed lacking in torque unless you spin it hard. I love the big low-end torque of the S10 motor and the effortless way it gains speed.

It's been outside of the US for a number of years, so if you search our Other Bikes section you'll find lots of threads with pros and cons written by different people. Some do like it. Use the search terms Honda VFR1200X and Honda Crosstourer.

I borrowed this one on and off over a couple of days in Norway and rented one on a different trip. I preferred the Gen1 Tenere to it and no question when comparing with the Gen2. [/size]To me it felt top heavy with soft suspension, I hated looking at the instrument cluster, and it was a tall VFR in poser ADV clothing.

CW, you mean it should have been called a 'crossdresser' instead of a crosstourer? ::025::
