Just a note of follow-up and re-thanks to @okiegtrider. The Nomadic rack is of excellent quality, finish, and value. At a little over $100 you'll get a precision braked/machined rack that has dual level mounting options, 1/4" stock, beautiful shot-peened and blackened finish, smooth edges, numerous mounting and strapping possibilities, kind customer response, and rapid shipping with considerate packaging... This is an outstanding choice. My only regret is that they don't offer an accompanying pillion "plate" for contiguous flat, recessed, latitudinal stowage, which somehow seems to be an elusive grail of the S10 touring community. I remain hopeful.

Travex, I appreciate the kind words, but I learned about the rack from reading someone else's post here on the board. I think it came up in the thread about cracking Altrider plates.

I put my Nomadic on the bike just a few weeks ago and am also impressed with the quality of it. I second what you said about wishing that Nomadic offered a matching pillion plate. If they offered it, I'd buy that as well.

I haven't ridden in weeks, instead I'm nursing a broken leg. Lots of time on my hands to read message boards. Thanks for the mention!

You bet, okiegtrider. If I had my druthers I'd mount both 1-gal fuel and water Rotopax's on the elusive flat recess with the Nomadic at the end. As it stands, I'm thinking through the merits of both over and underlying support plates to mount a Pax on the existing plastic piece beneath the pillion seat. Not Ideal I know, but it seems to me that the eccentric forces would be displaced appropriately enough. That'd leave some great underlayment for duffel(s). Sorry and glad you're on the mend and hoping you have the fullest riding season you can. It's not so bad to be sentenced to reading about that which you love.
