I picked up my bike five years ago today. I got mine a couple weeks later than most of the pre-order guys because I was in Alaska at the time.
Wife and I just rode 200 miles yesterday and I still can't get over how nice this bike is.
I'm just curious how many of you pre-order guys [Die-Hards] out there still have your 2012 Teneres after five years now.

Congrats Steve! I was just looking back at some old email from when I got mine. Doesn't seem possible it has been five years and all the ups and downs we went through with the delays in the PDP units.

I picked mine up August 27th, still have it, and still need to ride more!

Some here may remember that my wife had the local radio station prank call me about the bike...

I picked mine up five years ago this past June.... I have since moved on to 2015ES which I have had for about 15 months now... Even after a reflash, I was not totally happy with the throttle response characteristics of the 2012. And I had the typical clutch basket vibration. There was 46,000 kms on the 2012 when I traded it in.

My 5 year was July 29. I got home the 19th of July after doing a 6 week, 11,000 mile retirement ride. Still like it just fine, no reason to trade.

Wiring in a new radar detector, and I need to do valves etc again. I hope to put it off till winter when I cant ride anyway.

Picked mine up July 27th and yes still have it. The thing I like about the bike the most is meeting a lot of awesome people from the forum.

Mine was August 2nd. Still have it...well, my wife still has it. Only had it 6 months when she stole it from me, but it's still in the family.

5 years ago I would not have predicted I'd be on my third Tenere at this point. Sure, maybe my second one, but three... Life has surprises.

Looking back, I wish that I could have been a member of the "pre-order" club.
Believe me, it was not necessarily a fun time! A lot of ups and downs as we waited for word from Yamaha and from our dealers.

But then the excitement of getting the call from my dealer and seeing MY Tenere, still in the shipping crate, was overwhelming!!!!!

I picked up my PDP bike on July 29th five year ago. I picked up an Africa Twin two weeks ago on July 29th.

Still love the Tenere and plan on riding it for many years to come.

Nice!

I got on an Africa Twin the other day and it's really nice, but the Tenere is better for every day commuting and distance.
