Can anyone tell me if the S10 is already pre wired for fitting spot lights ? If not, what r what would be required to do so ??

Thanks in advance.

search auxilary light port. You can find it tucked in the area behind the tool kit. Order a 65 dollar plug and play wiring loom from Eastern Beaver, I got the 3 circuit unit with two circuits switched by the ignition. Easy install.

If you already are using PIAA lights and their wiring, you will just need the 3 pin connector because fuse and relay are already there.

From what I can see, it seems the UK version of the S10 doesn't have a Aux light connector, has one for heated grips, but not for lights.

I lied, it was tucked away behind other cables/wires.

Am I right in thinking I will need run a 2 circuit rocker switch rather than a simple handlebar switch if I'm connecting spot lights up via the 3cs on the aux light port ???

The factory aux light connector is fused at 20 amps....at 12 volts that's 240watts of power. What switch you choose depends on how you want your lights to come on...no switch, and the lights will be on with the ignition, or you could have a simple on/off switch. One other option is to have a 2 circuit switch (think High-Low switch) to turn on one light (in the low position) and add the 2nd light (in the high position).

Don't think I'd want the lights on all the time with the ignition. Not being very knowledgeable about electrics I can't quite see how a simple twin wire handlebar light switch works, as don't I need to run wires to and from the switch, which looks to me like a 2 circuit needed or am I missing something ???

If you are not very confident in building your own solution you can buy a plug and play accessory light kit from your dealer. Of course you pay a lot more for that choice.

this is from yamaha canada. I'm sure yamaha uk has the same offering. Contains all the components you will require plus instructions. Or pay the dealer to install.

there is a UK ebay seller of those pins / fittings for the aux connector.

for lights - you still need, really, a relay - if you look at something like the Givi S310 trekker lights (or the newer LED versions) they use a 'live' an 'earth' and a switched live to the handlebar on/off switch.

which by good fortune is exactly what you have in the 3-pin aux connector hidden in the right hand side fairing.

pins in the 3-pin connector are as follows:
red/white wire - permanent live
Brown - switched live when ignition is 'on'
other - earth.

You only need the pins for the male side of the connector - the male side of the switch is connected to the bike loom - the male part of the socket is also present, but has no metal contact pins - just rubber weather plugs to stop water ingress.

PM me if you need any other detail.

What's the trick to order just the male plugs and pins shown in Karson's post above from Eastern Beaver. I added both to my shopping cart, which took me to paypal. This showed a total of $6.44 for parts and $322 for shipping and handling? WTF?

EDIT: I see that he says there is a minimum order of $20 and shipping will be very high until that total is met. Anybody else want the male plugs and pins? or does anybody know of another source in the USA for just the male pins?

Thanks.

He says somewhere that minimum order is $20 below that his system calculates crazy shipping rates to discourage you from placing the order.

search ebay for the term "sumitomo 4 way connectors" and they will come up!.

you can buy any - a 4-way connector will give you a spare pin - you know, just in case.
