Fitting Akrapovic gasket advice

I am fitting an Akrapovic slip on this weekend but there isnt a graphite gasket included in the box and the supplied fitting instructions do not make any reference to using one.
Does the slip on just slide onto the header pipe without one?

Should be just a smooth tight fit. On my Yoshimura, the bottom joint gets a clamp, and the top joint is a pair of springs, metal to metal seal. Kind of sketchy, huh. A smear of high temp silicone was an idea I had. Haven't done it though.
