First Timer's Question - ABS Flush On 2017 S10

Changing brake fluid for the first time on a 2017 S10. Wanted to flush the ABS system and watched all the videos. My problem is the plug under the seat (for the "jumper wire") doesn't match what I see in any of the videos. Am I missing something? Have the models changed or should I get some new glasses?

This is the Yamaha jumper plug if that helps. The top plug is what connects to your socket under the seat

This is the jumper wire I made for cycling my ABS pump. It's just an electrical test lead I got from Amazon:

Go find a dirt road and cycle the pump by applying the brakes separately before and after you bleed. Good practice skills at trusting the ABS system. Has worked well on my 07 FJR with a 125,000 miles and my 2014 S-10 with 65,000. I do the dirt road thing a couple of time a year on both bikes with a bleed every other year unless I spend a couple of days in the Box in OR then bleed them when I get home.

Pics would help! Very Easy to do. Did mine a few days ago and the jump black/blue wires worked perfect. Bled the F/R first then cycled the sytem 5 or 6 times and bled the F/R again. Get a "Mighty Vac" or similar or the "speed bleeders" makes it very simple! The nice thing about the Mighty Vac is you can use it on other vehicles and ALSO as a diagnostic tool for other engine functions. If you can afford the real deal "Mighty" buy that one as the Amazon/Harbor Freight ones dont last. Ask me how I know. My original MV lasted over 25 years!!! "Make sure you do the Clutch master at the same time as mine was pretty dark. Bleeding/refiling the clutch improved my clutch 100%. Much easier to clutch if that makes sense

I used to be a big proponent of the "activate the ABS on a gravel road" when I was doing a brake flush, but it ends up just adding more time to the process. Once I started using the jumper wire to activate the ABS pump while I was bleeding or flushing the brakes, the job went faster and more efficiently.

It's still a good idea to activate the ABS system once in a while when you're actually riding, but I stick with the jumper wire activation now when I'm actually working on the brakes.

Thanks for this info. Do you know offhand, what the Yamaha part number is in case my local dealer isn't familiar with this?

Not that I can recall, but I hope to get back underneath that seat and look some more. Thanks, the photos should really help me!

That was going to be my "go to" plan if I didn't find the plug underneath the seat!

Have had a Mighty Vac for years now. Great help in doing the clutch and F/R brakes without assistance from my wife.

That was my thought as well but will have to see where this goes in locating the underseat plug. Eventually, I figure that I will be using the jumper wire technique but may resort to the "gravel road" technique for now. ;-)
