This will be my first road trip on my s10. Its a very novice, pavement only, trip but figured I'd start small and work my way up.

I'll be departing from Goodyear, AZ and heading north west to Las Vegas.

Stops ( for refueling or stretching if needed):

Wickenburg, AZ

Kingman, AZ

Boulder city, NV

Las Vegas, NV

Ill be in Vegas for 3 nights, then head back. One the way back, I'll head through Route 66 then down through flagstaff.

My bike is being fitted with Jesse bags (thanks, Al, at jesseluggage.com). I have an emergency repair kit from Cycle Gear, plug kit, mini compressor, gps, and mini cooler for water and Gatorade. Not planning on camping this trip.

Anything else I may need? You're feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a fun beautiful trip. Don't forget Oatman http://goo.gl/maps/kcnwK . Just returned from a four day'er and had to repair (plug) a flat on a worn rear while crossing the Carrizo Plain. My Slime pump would only fill the tire to 30 PSI. Check your pump before you leave and do it where air is available.

Stay hydrated. I started using a Camelbac a few years ago. I find I drink a lot more water using it than I do stopping, removing helmet, unpacking water bottle and all that. You live in AZ so you are used to high temps but i would recommend using and evaporative vest.

Good point, will make sure my mini compressor is working and taking dynaplug kit.

Thanks for the info. Will take plenty of fluids. My jacket has a pocket for a camel pack bladder. I'll go pick up a bladder tomorrow.

First trip... cool. I remember my first big trip. Being so intimidated that we were so far away from home (80 miles) and with only a motorcycle.

Enjoy it. If you're like a lot of your fellow Tenere riders, this will be the first of many, many trips.

Consider a cable lock so you don't need to always carry your helmet with you when you run into a store or restaurant. I used to not lock my helmet, until that sweaty thing got stolen and I lost a full day of the trip dealing with that issue. Depending on where it are it can be a bigger deal than you might expect.

Have fun, relax and welcome to long distance motorcycling. It's addicting.

Helmet lock, check. Thanks!

I also added a ram mount for my iPhone. That will be my gps for now.

Made it , took a couple of pics but I need to resize them. I'll take a couple more while I'm here and then snap a few on the way back. The Jesse panniers are awesome!! I'm so glad I went with them vs my first choice.

Just got back! What an awesome trip. Even with the heat( approx 105-110) it wasn't bad at all. I wore heat out short sleeve and shorts underneathe my explorer air gear and had no issues. I also made 4 stops on the way and drank fluids each time. On the way back I only stopped 3 times(knew where the stops were and how far the fuel would go. Looking forward to the next adventure. I'll post a few pics.

Glad you had a great trip. Did you verify your compressor would air up to your desired tire pressure? Another compressor issue many people forget about is simply having a place to plug it in for power. The factory Cig plug is only on a 5 amp fuse, (3?), and that wiring won't support a compressor, which needs a 10-15 amp fused circuit.

I always add a un-switched power port to my bikes on a 1-15 amp fuse to use for battery tender and air compressor. It's nice to not need to turn the bike on to use the compressor when I have to fix a flat. I do have to change the compressor plug to a compatible one though. Powerlet Products makes a bunch of nice stuff, but the John Deere dealer can provide power ports and plugs too, same as the BMW ones. They stay in place better than cig style ones.

Good call. Fortunately, I tested it in my driveway, blew the sissy fuse, replaced it and went direct as you stated in your post. Next big ride is another adventure ride in September. Over night'er, camping, and good off-roading.

If yyou mean you replaced the low amp fuse with a high amp fuse you might fry a wire doing that. Next time you are in Vegas, check in with my brother, "Twolukes" on here.

I replaced the fuse with low amp fuse (purple). My setup is straight to the battery for compressor use.
