Finally...Graduating Tomorrow

After almost 4 long years I finished my graduate degree and am walking tomorrow. I feel relieved, yet oddly sad in a way. I managed to get this done while at the same time working full time and raising my two kids through their earliest years. I don't know what I'll do with the free time...oh yeah, the FORUM! ;)

All that stuff I've been putting off for the past few months is finally back on my mind. I don't like to think I have a single-track mind, but it's amazing to me how the moment I got my final grades things I hadn't thought about in months started coming back to me. I have lots of stuff planned for the board, so stay tuned.

Congrads Venture! That is no small deal in 4 years and working full time. Superman! You should be very proud! Lots of hard work paid off.

I am happy for you.

Now get to work cleaning up this site. :)) Starting with my posts. :) :) :)

I knew you are a man of character Chris. You mentioned your two kids. That is what your life's meaning is all about. Who cares what we do or have done, it's all about the kids. That is what drives us to overcome the past and, hopefully be better men for the future. Thankyou and others here for making a man that does not ride feel welcome. And, by the way Markjenn, no offense taken. I can tell you are a good man too. I've decided to opt out with this on paper wonderful machine. You guys here on this forum are very experienced riders and I feel like maybe it's an insult for a man that hasn't ridden a motorcycle in 36 years to come in and say anything. Anyway, when I decided to go back into motorcycling between this bike and the DR650, I was not going to consider anything else after research. I don't know, maybe it's some sort of omen to stick with an original idea, which was the DR650. Take Care, and again, thankyou gentlemen for making a new rider feel welcome.

Well done, Venture. A major accomplishment. I headed back for my Masters at age 42, and it took me about 6 years, but I got 'er. Opened up a whole new world for me. I hope it does the same for you. I hope your path was more enjoyable than mine. Regardless, it's good to get 'er done. Well done, indeed. R

Congrats and "Well Done" Chris!!! I went through some of the same when I was younger - working full time during the day and going to college every evening, but it gives you a real sense of accomplishment when you are done. The main thing is to not let it impact your family/children.

Again - GREAT JOB!!!

:)

I guess we'll have to call him "Master Venture" now, unless it's a Ph. D., in which case we probably won't be able to talk to him at all. Might have to make an appointment. That Ph. D. stuff is serious. I decided early on during my Master's journey that I had maxed out on post graduate education. Way too serious for this old country boy. R

Venture,

Please allow me to add my congratulations! I work at a large university and interact mostly with graduate students. It is quite an accomplishment to get an advanced degree especially when raising a family. I hope that you are proud of that achievement.

congrats Venture!!! will this help advance in career?
Not immediately, but it's good for the future. I have quite a few years of working left to do, so I'm sure it will pay a dividend before the end.

Also, thanks everybody for the congrats, much appreciated.

Now the fun begins of paying back loans.
Not for me. My employer is rather generous, and they covered the tuition 100%. I did have to spend a rather hefty sum over the past few years for books out of my own pocket, but it pales in comparison to the tuition costs. I've found if you buy used books and then turn around and sell them right away it's really not too bad.
