Well I finally got my Tenere. I had ordered back in sept a year ago. Sadly I had to cancel when the delays due to the japanese sunomi started to mount as I needed to finance a new roof for the house at that time. But anyway my dealer got a blue one in and I bought it this past friday (Original wanted black but no biggie).

On a side note I was hauling the ST home in my box trailer (that is set up with wheel chalks and tie downs for motorcycles).
And I had hooked the tie downs on to the ends of the handle bars. And the left bar bent down at a 45 degree angle and the bike fell over! I had not riden or really handled the bike at that point (sales guy rode it into the trailer) so I didn't realize how heavy the ST really is as I come form a SportBike background). There was A lot of leverage on those bars holding that heavy, heavy bike up! No damage to the bike other than the handle bars. But just warning you all if you trailer your bike watch how you tie it down. So I have not gotten to ride the bike yet. Have to wait till my new bars come in. Just one of those things! :-[

Congrats and welcome. Your bike has already been 'christened' and I wonder if they were properly tightned in the first place. Better that they loosened in the trailer than the trail! Enjoy.

No No, the handle bars did not twist in the upper triple tree mounts. The left side of the handle bars literally BENT from the weight of the bike! This happened when I was making a left hand turn. The extra G force of the vehicle turning must have been enough to bend the handle bar. I heard the crash of the bike falling in the trailer and immediately pulled over.

Congrats on taking delivery on your new BLUE SuperT! Hard way to learn the lesson to NOT use the handlebars for a hard tie down point. Did the dealer suggest it? If so, you may talk them into helping with the cost of replacement bars..

Good luck!

No it just one of those things. The sales guy just rode it into the trailer and held it while I strapped it to the tie downs. Honestly Having never handled the bike before I had no idea how heavy it actually was. or I might have tied it off some where else. I'm used to man handling 300 lb. sport bikes that you just strap down at the clip on handle bars and your done with it.

Good day, you devil, you. I just wrote you a rather length post and welcome, but it failed to make it. Hmmmm. Oh well, sorry about your bike. Glad it wasn't more serious. And if I didn't welcome you the first time around, ::004:: . Let us know when you get mobile. R

Get 'er fixed and you'll forget about that in short time. The Super Tenere is a tough bike.
