Yes it is a breather and replacing it would be a good idea

Yea breather it is ........ Just curious .......... aren't breathers supposed to have a hole to breath ?
If was an expensive part I would rework it (perhaps drill it out and insert a small porous brass filter or something)
But for $12.47 it doesn't pay to screw with it. BTW they want $7.00 to ship (really?) So I'll buy locally and keep them in business.
