I am looking at putting a fenda extenda on the front fender. Looking at the removal of the fender so I can glue the extender. But I am not sure how to remove the crossover brake line retainer. Does anyone have any hints? I am afraid that I might force my way and end up breaking things. Thanks

I didn't remove the fender to add the extender, just cleaned the fender and then wiped it with alcohol, added some silicone sealer to the fender extender in addition to the double face tape that it has on it.
Lined it up , stuck it and taped it in place with painters tape and left it over nite.
I've done several this way and never had any problems.

It comes off so easy, I figured what the hey and took mine off to install the extenda.

I installed the Fender Extender on my S10 tonight. It took about 15-20 minutes to remove the front fender (easy), carefully line everything up, drill!! four holes in the fender, install 4 stainless screws, and re-install the fender. It give you 5 1/2" of extension to the fender. 7" if talking to a woman!

I did and it was a TOUGH thing to do. This Fender Extender is a softer plastic than the ones installed on my ST1300s. The fender is ABS, but the extender is not---thus the screws. I did clean the inside of my pretty fender before the re-install!

No way I am drilling holes in my purty fender.

I use this to put Fender Extenders on my last 3 bikes. Works great!

You can buy it at Wal-Mart or your favorite auto parts store.

+1

Devcon is GREAT! I've used it for fairing repairs, etc. Best I've found.

I may get an Extenda, but I wouldn't drill my fender, either. The black Extenda would look great on a.......BLACK Tenere!!!!

Hey...I have one of those! ::001::

We all know I'm not into mods, but I still read and debate the merits of each and all. So far I have not seen any mod worth doing, but I'm open for possibilitys. Now someone tell me why the fender extension is installed? Keep mud of your pipes?

This stuff is widely recommended for gluing these things on without using the screws. Available at places like Home Depot. I've had no issues on two bikes and 50K miles with no-fastener installations. I do think it is a good idea to remove the fender to be able to properly glue and hold it. (Which was easy on a FJR, but almost required a front end disassembly on a Strom.)

This mod is essentially the motorcycling equivalent of mud flaps on a car. Hardly a "must do", but it does help a lot to keep things cleaner. And for bikes with with low-mounted oil coolers, it really helps reduce the abuse they tend to get.

You know Mark, You and I got off on the wrong foot awhile back but, I have to say, you offer invaluable, in depth , no non-sense information that helps a lot of us new (or returning to) motorcycling. Thankyou brother.

No problem, I do have a lot of experiences, but then that's mostly because I'm ancient and have been doing this for 40+ years. Thanks,

Wow reading this thread and some guys drilling through that nice new fender to mount the extenda makes me cringe. Sorry guys, I took off the fender which was 6 bolds and it slid off real easy. Then I used some fine sandpaper on the inside and on the Fenda Extenda, and mixed up some JB Weld, smeared it on the extenda. A nice even coat over the whole contact area and pushed it on the fender and held it for 5 min. Let it sit over night and it is stuck on there forever. ::015::

Since you guys don't like my fender extender being screwed on???? I'm thinking about these handgrips to really fire everyone of you up!! I don't doubt that ABS glue, Devcon, or the other stuff might have worked-----------I just decided that the stainless screws would look good also if installed properly--they were.

My new S10 grips-----------what do you think?

Ron is the NO MODS guy here. If the bars or seat don't fit, he gets rid of the bike. Gawd, grips or a 'mud flap'! Gotta be kidding. ???
