Well it has started. My credit card is saying ow, ow, ow. Ordered Denali D2S LED's, Madstad brackets, and Kaoko throttle lock today. Sad to say these are the somewhat cheaper items on the farkle list. More pain to come. And yet somehow it's...........fun ::025::

Of course this prompts a question. When I install the Denali's where should I tie into the wiring harness for the switched 12V power?

TIA

By using the eastern beaver stuff, it allows you to tap into the factory connectors supplied by Yamaha on the right side of bike in front of battery. These are switched power.

Am I reading this right? I spend $93 so I can tap into switched power? I'm looking at the Eastern Beaver website and the link to the PC8 description seems to be broken.

This thing is a money pit! I spent over $3100.00 on it in the first week and I have only rode it less than a mile. More frown that smile so far since this is more than I'v spent on every bike I've ever had combined.

You asked - "Am I reading this right? I spend $93 so I can tap into switched power?"

No. you can tap right into switched power via the plugs that Yammy have left there for you (for the OEM heated grips and extra lights) under the right side fairing. There are several threads here at the forum that detail where to find them and what to do. Use the search function above.

However, adding the Eastern Beaver harness just makes for a cleaner install and give you more individually fused options to run other things. You can go with the PC8 connector if you think you will need that many accessories running power from the bike. I went with the 3CS (all switched) option. It is far cheaper and I doubt I'll ever have more than three devices needing power at any one time. The 3CS was a VERY SIMPLE plug and play install even for me who is not very electrically inclined.

Thanks Trikepilot. Now I understand and yes I should have searched first. I'm looking forward to digging into the bike and seeing what I can add. Money will determine how far I go of course.

Abercrombie I've only ridden mine 97 miles so far and I'm all smiles. Realize it might just be a bit chilly where you are but come springtime you're going to be happy. What kind of mods did you put on your bike?

I have had nothing but problems with the Denalis. I'm on me third control unit and have replaced one of the lights last Summer . Replacing them with Rigid.

I haven't done anything to the bike but ride it less than a mile on cold wet icy streets to the gas station to top it off and try out the traction control and anitlock brakes. ;D

My local Yamaha dealer offered me pretty good discounts since I bought a FJR and Tenere back to back this month. I have the following on order

Yamaha saddle and top boxs with liners. I had decided on Jesse's but the discount made them hundreds more than the Yamaha boxes.
Yamaha tall windshield
Yamaha skid plate . Regretting that decision since they don't appear to be highly regarded around here but think I'll be fine with my riding style.
Yamaha grip heaters. I've been spoiled with my last two FJRs
Yamaha driving lights Piaa 530 driving lights
Yamaha under headlight driving light brackets
SW Motech crash bars
SW Motech GPS mount

I normally don't do many mods to my bikes but this bike seems different from my FJRs, FZ1s and the Ducati. I think mods are necessary on this bike to be able to use it to its full potential.

Good part is I don't have to wait till spring. I'm going to Texas in a few weeks to ride the hill country and I think I'll be bringing the Tenere.

The decision on what bike to take is a hard one, because I have acquired all three of these bikes this crazy winter and haven't rode any of them yet. Even though the Ducati is used, and new to me, it seems like a sweet bike and only has 416 miles on it. Crazy impulse by off Craig’s list! ::008::

Limey I'm sorry to hear you've had problems with the Denali's. Ha s me a bit concerned. Hopefully I will not have the same issues. What model Denali's do you have?

Abercrombie you have a nice choice of bikes in your garage. I test drove the FJR and really wanted it but I just didn't fit. I really wanted the cruise control and the other amenities it offered. There was too much weight on my wrists as well. I almost went with the Yamaha bags but my dealer wasn't as generous as our apparently. Right now I'm planning on Caribou or Givi Trekker unless I hear something derogatory about them. Good luck on your ride in the hill country. Beautiful area.

I have the D2s. I rode in a lot of rain last year and I think the problem is with the shrink wrap on the control unit . What I did with the last one was cut the wrap off and sealed the unit with silicon . And I t was a nightmare dealing with Twisted Throttle .

I must say in reading your post I felt bad for the CC for a minute. Then scrolling down through the posts to see you have bought three bikes this winter well over $30k worth I can't help but to take back my thought of feeling sorry for the CC after seeing this. It appears the ole CC can handle it possibly quite well.
This is just a humorous opinion after reading what I have read. I hope your garage has plenty of space for all this.

Enjoy the burn of the card.

LOL Well Jeff I'm not looking for any pitty for my credit card but I can assure you I am way out of my league with my three bikes. I'm just a firefighter with four side jobs and a total lack of control this winter. ::010:: I've way over spent upgrading bikes this winter and originally only had plans of adding a Tenere to the garage with my old FJR.
The Ducati and new FJR were not planned puchases.

When I got this Tenere home and realized I didn't put much thought into how much this thing was going to cost to get it outfitted, I had a little buyers remorse. Doesn't help that it is January in ND and at least two months away from riding weather around here.

Yea, the Tenere can tear into your farkle fund. It's just one of those bikes that is so versatile that it can end up starting out as just a "platform" for building your own vision of an Adventure Weapon. Kinda sucks you are limited to just the farkle process though, due to climate. But I feel safe predicting that come riding weather, your remorse will likely vanish. About 3000 miles into it and it will own most owners. Hope you are one of them.

RonH, really? That's all you got?

While I was typing my sympathetic farklitis post above, I swear I thought about how what I was saying is really tee-ing it up for YOU. :)

And then you just bunt. :(

You're no fun anymore.

You guys are too helpful and kind. Over on the FJRForum they would have had me crying and bloodied by now after buying bikes and complaining of additional expenses. They are ruthless and I nearly pee my pants laughing most of the time over there.

Yea, I'm trying to calm down my enthusiasm to stay stock to not get emotionally involved and cause problems. More I look back I have been pretty much a pain in the rear to most forums, so I'm going to try to curtail that to more sensible words that don't anger most hopefully. :)
You weren't THAT bad. Cut yourself some slack.

I know what happened. You farkled, didn't you?
